Mawae was a great player and clearly the best center in Jet history. He will be missed, but if the Jets are rebuilding and in cap trouble, it makes some sense. I will miss seeing him pull and pancake some LB or DB. On the other hand, if you are building a team, a center is far less important than a QB, DE, or LT. He is easier to replace than Pennington or Abraham. I am still baffled by the negative feelings towards these two players who have done more for this franchise in the past 5 years than any other players. Now they are trash??????
Are you their gay lover? You seem to have an obsession over them. Do you have naked pictures of them pasted all over your room? ** 7 Day Suspension **
Shove it, you jerk. Who the hell do you think you are? Great football arguments. I am entitled to my opinion as much as anybody. All I read all day is this obsession with Cutler and Young and Williams, but that is OK with you. But I indicate that I think it will be a huge mistake to lose these two productive players and you act like an idiot. Is there a moderator in the house? If you don't like what I say, then ignore it or argue the other way. But the personal attacks are over the top. Are you that insecure?
Big Kev is going to be released, but hasn't been yet. from KFFL Jets | Team will release Mawae Thu, 2 Mar 2006 17:35:51 -0800 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New York Jets C Kevin Mawae will be released in the coming days, according to his agent Mark Bartelstein.
Kendall still isn't safe. Jets | Kendall possible salary cap victim Thu, 2 Mar 2006 17:55:48 -0800 Andrea Adelson, of the Associated Press, reports the New York Jets are still considering the future of OG Pete Kendall.
Get a grip Serphnx. No need for this type of response ok? If I see this again, you're gonna get some time off.
Schmitt and Fields were real good, Sweeney isn't in the argument. Mawae has been here 8 years and in my opinion you could easily argue he has consistently been the Jets best player over 7 of those years. Better than Fields and Schmitt maybe not better than their best years but certainly better over a longer stretch.
No you wouldn't. It's always just best to report these posts, though. I'd rather a flame war didn't start. But I don't think anyone would have blamed you...
This sucks. This guy was one of my favorite players for years. This is just another reason why I hate the salary cap.
I understand the point, of course, but I kind of hope that the Jets are considering the future of all of their players!
That sucks that Mawae is gone, I loved watching him beat Z. Thomas to the ground. I would bet Pennington and Kendall are next.
I rarely get bent out of shape over any of this kind of stuff. I disagree with JoeWillie all the time and he even pisses me off some time as I'm sure the feeling is mutual. The great thing is we can debate the point which is the point. Does it go over the line once in awhile sure, but this was way over the line in my mind. We all can take and dish out a little jab once in awhile and it can even be amusing if it's taken in the right spirit but that was a sucker punch which I view as the act of a coward.
The negative feelings toward Chad are totally a result of the injuries and the impact Chad is having on our cap situation given the amount of playing time he had over the last 3 years. $22M given for 16 games played is also a sore point and, I think, rightly so. Abraham's situation is just a bit different. All will agree he is a good to very good DE. People criticize him for being injured at times and never have a full season until last year. They also find fault with a couple of the playoff games he missed. He did have his chance to sign and baulked at it. He did earn $6M last year, plus he has earned a decent amount of money from his rookie contract which did include a signing bonus. I do not know the figure exactly, but it would be safe to say Abraham has earned $10M to $15M as a Jet. That is damned good money. Now, the Jets are in a tough spot, and he has the audacity to puplically whine about how he wasn't treated well and lied to by the ownership. As far as I am concerned, if somebody gives me $10M to $15M, they can lie to me all they want; they can even kick me in the balls; it is OK. The money will help me get over things quickly. Abraham is just going about things all wrong.
