Kevin, thank you for all your effort and leadership while you were here. You're an all-timer, and I will miss seeing you on Sundays in a Jet uniform. Hook up with Philly, bro. They have an excellent shot at a championship, something that the Jets are still a ways off from. I hope that you get your shot at a ring. You deserve it. Man, the business side of the NFL can really suck sometimes.
Too bad...he was a helluva player. For the guys trashing this guy....Kevin brought respect to this team..and fear to the opponents. Sad day...wish him the best.
how the hell you gonna talk about him that way. After all hes done for us our team the Oline. Some fan you are.
When will gang green send Mawae a tear-jerk email saying that he was mis-treated and his release will set the Jets back "farther then all possible".
I guess we just want to get younger, I know he's not as good as he once was but he's still one of the better C's in the league. I am surprised and disapppointed.
Well there goes another opportunity for a JET to get into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame... Good luck KEVIN
Why is that? Unless he goes bck to Seattle and plays another 3-4 years the bulk of his career and his best years will have been w/ the Jets so he'll always be remembered as a Jet.
He is back here for now. All cuts were given back when the league extended the deadline. The problem is, no matter what, I can't see him wanting to stay at this point. I really liked Mawae, and he is still one of the best centers in the league. The only guy IMO who is better is Nalen. Thanks for everything Kevin. You were one of the great ones!
Not entirely accurate from KFFL NFL | Teams can recall some players placed on waivers Thu, 2 Mar 2006 16:05:49 -0800 ESPN.com reports the NFL has informed teams any player placed on waivers may be recalled from waivers until there is more clarity on the free agency period, according to a high-level source with one NFL team.
Sweeney was 32 when he was dealt to Seattle. They unloaded him back to Pittsburgh after 1 year at 33. Sweeney was from Pittsburgh and was well known by Rooney, they both went to the same Church. After 2 years in Pitt he was the same age Mawae is now. He played 8 games and 5 games the next two years before packing it in. Mawae has been a great player for the Jets. He is old and over paid and wouldn't take a pay cut. This is the right move. My favorite Jet OL of all time Hill played his last two years on the Rams. Time is a great equalizer.
Kevin I met you at Hofstra with my 3 sons this past Summer. It was the highlight of the Jet Year for me and my family. You were a true warrior and will be missed in your #68 Jet Jersey. Good luck and God Bless. Go get your SB ring you deserve one!
