 You were a great Jet Kev,thanks. But at the same time, this was the right move,a 35 year olf guy comming off a nasty injury for an O-line men will not help the rebuilding process.
Yup, this sucks. Going into all this mess with a new staff and all, I expected change. I did not, however, for one minute, think he would be one of the guys to go. The man was a player and probably still will be on someone elses team. I hear Phili. Anyway, gonna miss the guy.
DOH! Sad Day, although bleeding green, there are plenty of them.. I am scared of what our O-line will look like next year.
One thing we all have to take into consideration with the CBA issues looming- being released by your team doesn't mean what it used to. It may just mean they have to get the player off the books by midnight tonight. They can then keep conversations going with the player to bring him back. Pat Kirwan just brought this up on Sirius. He said he highly doubt for example that none of the 3 players Denver released will be gone for good... Same thing with Will Shields with KC. They needed the room so they let him go, but more than likely he'll be back. Just something to chew on...
I have to question this move. Mawae is still a productive lineman, and since the unit figures to be rotooled during the offseason and made a lot younger, it would have made sense to keep Mawae as an anchor and mentor. It would be one thing if the team was desperate to get under the cap, but indications are this wasn't the case.
Kevin will be remembered as one of the best Jets ever in my book. Thanks for the memories man! You were a great one!
ALL I have to say is holy shit..It is going to be like the Cleveland Indians in Major League not knowing who the hell any of these guys are..NewyorkJETS.com is having a fire sale on Jerseys as we speak..ha ha
