My philosophy is to avoid drafting for need unless it's QB. We might be in a position where OLB is the BPA though anyway with how deep this pass rushing class is. I'd be completely fine with either Beasley or Fowler, but if we go receiver, I think it should be White.
I agree with the BPA philosophy. It just so happens that the OLBs in this draft are higher on my big board than the WRs are.
If we combined picks 2 and 3 to move up we could probably have Gurley or MG III instead of Duke Johnson. I don't know about you but I make that trade. Otherwise, good job,
In my opinion, we aren't in any position to be trading up, especially for a RB. But that's just my opinion.
I agree. Duke Johnson is really, really good. The gap between he and the other two isn't large, and he doesn't have Gurley's injuries.
I agree. Don't get me wrong, I love MGIII and think he's far and away the best RB prospect in this draft, but everyone keeps comparing him to Jamaal Charles. JC ran a 4.34 if I recall correctly (too lazy to google) at his combine. MGIII ran a 4.52.
I thought Washington would likely go with Shelton, too, until they paid Paea over $5 million per year on his new deal. I can't see where they would play him in a 3-4 other than nose tackle. I don't think either guy is really an athlete you can put outside at a 5T, so that one would surprise me. But then, I'm surprised by a lot of things
MGIII had been described as a bigger stronger Charles. With size you lose some speed. Also in pads the speed differential is not quite as big.
This is why my dream is a trade with Clevelend. Pick up one of the four really good OLB (Fowler, Beasley, Gregory, Dupree) at 12 and OL (Scherff, Peat) at 19. Oh baby. Then WR in the second round.
Great draft man. My dream situations for Fowler to be sitting there at number six. He would take this defense from great to elite! Second round offensive lineman or receiver. I would personally take DGB if he is there.
Well, this year for the first time, in my own simple little mind, it really doesn't matter a hell of beans who I want, not that I have been ever right before. But this year I think I have complete confidence that Mac the Knife will surprise us in a good sort of way, unlike draft of years gone bye.
I think we would have to leapfrog Dallas or Arizona from our round 2 spot to go and get MG3 or Gurley. Either that or trade out of #6 spot. There are plenty of other teams with RB needs (Detroit, Tampa, Tennessee, Minnesota if they dump AP, Houston, Jacksonville, etc.) that could also pull the trigger in round 1 or in front of us in round 2. The Chargers have a big hole at RB with just Darren Oliver and a rehabbing Woodhead. They could pull the trigger on MG3 at pick #17. They've met with him multiple times already.
id rather trade down then take fowler... but i wouldnt be pissed about getting him eihter. id rather take white or beasley in that spot though
I don't see a lot of separation between Fowler, Beasley, Ray, Gregory, and Dupree. Fowler would be my first choice but I think these guys are very close in value.
If Titans go with Mariotta, I'm hoping Jets call them up & ask how much Mettenberger costs. If it's a 2016 5th or less, they should definitely pull the trigger. Some contingency where it turns to a fourth if he starts 4+ games would be acceptable too.
fair enough, you certainly arent alone in that assessment. I think beasley is going to be a stud. the talk is he is just a pass rusher on the edge, but i think he is going to be so elite at it that it wont matter. liek dwight freeney level edge rusher, a better version of JPP.
