I like Mcelroy but i dont think he is going to push Sanchez in anyway. He was brought in here as a career back up. The kid doesnt have the arm to make all the throws. Did you forget about his deep "lollipop" floaters in the preseason?? lol
Matt Flynn is Kevin Kolb 2.0 He's gonna garner a first and third rounder with $40 million to match and will go on his merry way leading a team to mediocrity.
wow. Alright then, I'll go ahead and try to explain myself. I know it won't be feasible for the Jets to get Matt Flynn. The Packers will want some unreasonable compensation for Flynn (like a first and a third, as mentioned) and some team desperate for a quarterback will be willing to pay the price. I get that. The question I was posing in the original post was purely hypothetical. Let me try to rephrase: Would you rather have Mark Sanchez or Matt Flynn as the starting quarterback for the Jets? Look, I realize that Matt Flynn is unproven and could very well be the next Kevin Kolb or Matt Cassel, but to make that comparison only because he is in a similar situation would be unfair. From a pure talent standpoint, I think Flynn is already better than both of those quarterbacks. Also, I think we are starting to see that Sanchez just isn't that good. I know the mantra of us Jets fans over the past two years has been "wins are more important than stats," which is true from a team standpoint, but doesn't really hold up for an individual player. Try to think of a game in which Sanchez himself put the Jets in a situation to win when he wasn't being carried by the defense and special teams. The only game that comes to mind is the game against the Texans last year(and possibly the Lions game). The truth is that Sanchez hasn't even been a real asset to the team. His accuracy is a MAJOR problem. A majority of his throws are not on target and require an incredible effort by the receiver to make the catch. His only real strength is that he is one of (if not the best) play-action passers in the league. He has a decent TD:INT ratio this year, but that's mostly due to the fact that the Jets almost never run the ball in the red zone. I honestly don't know if Flynn would be a better quarterback than Sanchez, but I do believe he has more upside, which is why I brought this topic up.
So you want to trade away at least a first rounder and dump Sanchez for a guy you've seen play a few dozen minutes of garbage time football? What are you basing this shit on? I think if the Jets made you GM you would set the record for most consecutive losses in an era.
Dude, chill. No one on this board will ever be a GM, thankfully. And yes, you're probably right, I would be a terrible GM and I would absolutely set the record for most consecutive losses. Now, I wouldn't give up a first for Flynn. I never said I would. Also, I am basing this off of his play against Detroit and New England last year and his brief time in the Vikings game yesterday.
Sanchez had 2 picks, one where it was tipped 3 times and the second towards the end of the game down 2 scores. He may have played a shitty game but it's not like he's been consistently terrible. The guy is a winner. I'm sick and tired of reading this stupidity after a loss. The whole team sucked, it's not on Sanchez. And Matt Flynn is overrated.
Remember some football guy saying "qb gets too much credit for winning and too much blame for losing". From Jets & other teams message boards, this comment pretty much nails it. Safety, LB that can cover TE in space, TE that can block, lack of OL depth are all over looked.
Wow...Matt Flynn? Why? Out of all the QBs in the league, why Mat Flynn? He had one good game against the Patriots last year, and thats it. Why him? If you wanna be a moron, there were better options to pick from, but why Matt freaking Flynn?
It's worked before...and they're all named Matt. Matt Schaub Matt Hasselbeck Matt Cassel With that said, I don't want to replace Mark Sanchez with anyone. I want Brian Schottenheimer to die in a fire first. If Sanchez fails in another scheme, then it will be time to move on.
he's obviously caught on to that winning recipe the Cardinals used when they blew their load on Kolb. Flynn had one decent game.....LET'S DO THE DITKA FOR HIM!
Flynn's contract is up.....no need for anyone to trade for him. He is an unrestricted free agent after this season.
I can't believe this thread was started...you know where else I saw this shit? finheaven.com The OP is a fucktard.
