It’s just one of those things where it just takes a lot of reps and just a lot of studying.” During offseason workouts, the Jets housed their rookies at a hotel near the team’s facility. Amaro spent about two hours every night studying his plays alone his room, “and going to bed with all of that stuff in my head,” he said. “It’s working out for me pretty well.” While studying, Amaro kept the television off. He put on relaxing music, like Coldplay or John Mayer. He opened the playbook in front of him, placed his hand or a piece of paper over the diagram of a play, and called out the play name, as if the Jets were huddling. Then he tested his memory, by saying where he needed to line up and run (or block) on this play. “It just took a lot of motivation,” he said. Other times, he would sit with rookie quarterback Tajh Boyd while they ate, either at the Jets’ cafeteria or at the rookies’ hotel. Boyd would call out a play and quiz Amaro on his assignment. Amaro would try to respond as quickly as he could. “He would just throw different plays out there,” Amaro said. Good to know he has made mental progress in memorizing the Playbook, with his physical ability he has the potential to be the X factor in our offense this year. Big fan of Amaro, glad we got him

In a Tuesday phone conversation with Around The League, Johnson spoke confidently about being theJets' primary ball-carrier in 2014. "Once the season starts and once we're playing and I'm doing my thing, I'm pretty sure if I'm making plays they're going to want to keep handing the ball off to me," Johnson said. "If they want me to continue making plays, I'm pretty sure I can't do that if I'm on the sideline." Johnson's comments come one week after running backs coach Anthony Lynn said the Jets needed to be "strategic" in how they use Johnson, who enters his seventh season with 1,742 career carries. Johnson, 28, indicated an openness this spring to sharing the workload with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell. On Tuesday, he sounded like a player who sincerely believed he'll remain a bell-cow back if theJets give him the opportunity to prove himself. Reading the full quote now, he thinks if he's making plays he will get the ball and if he doesn't get the ball he cannot make plays. I guess that's too long for a notification that will grab my interest, but the full story, as usual, makes a lot more sense

Lotsa off season speculation here, which is what it is. I'm very much on the fence about Hill. He's equally likely to go either way as far as I see it. By that I mean he's equally likely to improve enough to take the #2 slot or not. I tend to be unhappy about him more because he's at risk of being another high round bust, and not because of Nelson, who I think was serviceable last year, and probably would be again if Hill doesn't make it. Btw isn't Salas still on the roster?
