decker & guacamole coming out to support Geno Smith as well. quite surprising they weren't doing this last tuesday or wednesday when it happened but instead the day after Coach Bowles emphasized team unity and made the guys run sprints. actually its not surprising when you think about that.
Would a little more credible if he gave some details, or a different story, explain what happened. Your best friend coming out saying "didn't happen" isn't enough when compared to the dozens of other reports from other sources that all say the exact opposite, that are all matching for the most part. For Marshall to just say all that is BS...sorry, don't buy it one second. I'll take Revis' word over whatever Brandon is saying. He's more worried about his stats than anything.
haha, true enough. even though i'm not at all a Geno supporter, i'm actually glad some guys came out in defense of him. the lack of backing was becoming almost unsettling. don't you find it a bit odd though that 3 different guys came out today after all this silence? feels like they had a meeting and a plan of action (or damage control)..
I don't know what their availability to the media has been. But todays an off day, first one since the punch, so maybe that factors into it? may be they got tired of seeing geno swing in the wind and the posts backpage was the last straw and they are breaking the gag order. maybe bowles picked a couple of guys who were willing to go to bat for geno. Maybe a little bit of all that?
That I can agree with. I can imagine Ik asking for the favor rudely and pissing Geno off, which is why Geno ignored him later. Or, I can imagine Ik just being normal about it and Geno decides for some reason he has to demonstrate control by refusing to pay the guy back until he feels like it. Or a little of both of the above. However...I am on IK's side, not for the punch which is always off limits, but for getting mad, because most guys who run a charity, take the time to personally attend to it, and reimburse other guys in advance to show up, are not jerks. Ron
Anthony becht totally disagreed with ghe last part of your posts. he says you get travel insurance because players are horrible schedulers.
well i saw Revis, Mangold and Colon speak already, so it wasn't due to media availability. i think it's just damage control. they recognized how bad the silence was, and agreed to attempt to diffuse the situation thru supportive, but limited, comments. it was the right move......but all just seems too contrived for me. hopefully they all just move on now.. there isn't much left to say.
Becht said that Geno isn't obligated to pay him back, which doesn't make sense. He also thinks something tragic happened to Geno's relative, which we don't even know if it's true. This thing won't let me post urls, even substituting dot and slash for . and / so just search google for anthony becht and geno smith for the audio. Ron
I believe this will be the last day players speak on it. Marshall may get a few more questions since he put himself at the scene but they probably are sticking geno in a basement for the next month and re issuing the gag order.
I think when you've been around the block once or twice, you wise up to this and do a better job hedging your losses. IK's only been in the league 1 year, not sure he's savvy enough to get this point. Maybe this was his first camp ever. And apparently Geno was his headliner--kids were coming to his camp BECAUSE of Geno. Again, not defending IK, just trying to get a perspective on what went down. I'd doubt for Becht's first football camp, he wasn't buying travel insurance. _
that's the best move for everyone. and the less Marshall speaks this season, the better. Bowles needs to figure out a way to reign that guy in.
Depends on who's version you believe. One version had it that IK invited Geno and Geno said 'sure--if you pick up my plane fare and car fare'. If so, then that's on Geno. If IK did it of his own accord, maybe it's not totally on Geno. Again, depends on which story you believe. The first story--literally hours after the punch--was that Geno's dear friend had died. The next day and ever since then, the story was Geno's brother broke some ribs in a motorcycle incident and that Geno accompanied him to the hospital. Still, Geno never called to cancel. _
Apples to oranges. Becht isn't a sociopath known for punching people and it's not likely that his football first camp ever his headliner bailed on him without a call. Again, not defending IK, but you have to put Becht's comments into perspective. _
