if he really wants to come back he knows it will have to be on a reduced deal but what do we expect him to say? "I can't wait to leave". it will be a surprise if he is back though I would love it.
We may need him back if Geno is gonna be this bad,Depending on what we do in the draft and whatever. But you would be lying if u said u wouldnt rather have Sanchez in right now over Geno
Rather have Mark Sanchez then Geno Smith on this roster. So if we draft another QB in the NFL draft next year, who stays and who goes?
As I understand it, If we cut him, he costs us about $4million in dead money, although we have a net savings of $8million against the cap I know there are people here who have a much better understanding of cap-o-nomics, but I wonder if its possible to restructure his contract so that he essentially plays for the $4m next season Even if he played for $6 million, that only winds up costing us an additional $2m against the cap from where we will be if we cut him. Is this correct?
When you look at how all the supposedly GREAT young QB's are doing -- Dalton, Luck, RGIII, Prior, Stafford, Bradford (before hurt) -- the Jets would be downright foolish to let Sanchez walk. I can easily see the light-bulb coming on for Sanchez around Years 6 or 7 -- like Phil Simms -- and becoming another Jeff Garcia-type, never a franchise QB but a QB you can win with and maybe go deep into the playoffs with.
But he's going to want more years, maybe some more guaranteed money. I don't think the NFLPA will allow him just to take a pay cut with him getting anything in return for restructuring and helping the Jets out. _
My guess is, a restructure would reduce next years salary by 25-50%, adding an extra year for a nominal amount, or a structure for next year that make him whole based on playing time incentives.
I think he would be will to come back on a 2 year BS contract - 1 year in reality with a chance to start, have a good season, and go free.
No, he isn't. He knows, that barring injury, he'll start.they should have won 11 this year. Of he starts and they make the playoffs next year, he's here, long term anyway. Do you really think Idzik is hanging his hat on this fuck up pf the QB situation? Idzik shoehorned this mess, and He knows that Rex is closer to the owner than he is. That's common sense and survival.
People will blast me I am sure, but if Sanchez did restructure, it would not be so bad to have a depth chart of 1. Sanchez 2. Smith 3. Simms going into 2014.
Regardless of all that I don't understand how any of you can hate this kid so much. He says all the right things, has a great attitude, is constantly working with and helping his teammates ( even now when he's injured ). You see him on the sideline discussing plays and coverages with his teammates. All you ever see Geno doing is sulking,.. in fact, I have yet to see Geno do anything, on the field or off, in terms of showing he's a capable leader of this football team. But everyone wants to annoint him as Namath Reincarnate because he's not #6. All of his "game winning" comebacks have really been gifts. I haven't seen a thing from him that would show he's capable of being a franchise QB. http://www.newyorkjets.com/videos/v...Anywhere/5baedd1a-72e5-4d9a-b55e-4e9569c8bf21 I miss Mark. There I said it. At least with him behind center I felt like we had a chance in any game. I feel like you can watch Geno walk onto the field for the first drive and everyone including himself already knows if it's a win or loss.
