can i bring jack? and is your vagina well enough to drink tonight? (fuck you with the alcoholism tag too, yes i do NEED booze to get through this game... AGAIN!)
Nah bro, my shit is still fucked up. I'm trying to nurse myself to be ready for this weekend. This past weekend really sucked being sick and not being able to drink. But get yourself a hobo bottle for yourself.
A gold brick to you for using the word matriculating in other than the usual. I feel sweaty (lets steam out of collar).
One of the many reasons Marino still haunts me in my childhood dreams. Thank God the man never won a superbowl
i have always wondered where esiason got the stones to carry himself in the company of marino, kelly, etc etc. even with the MVP and SB appearance, IMO, he fits better into that 1a class with guys like moon. jil
I have always hated the Dolphins and I especially hate Shula but that play was brilliant. It would have been even more so if not against us. What made it brilliant was that it didn't come after a long timeout or some long huddle. It was to stop the clock and instead of that he throws a TD. Who, prior to that, would have ever expected it in a million years.
The fake Spike may have never happened..... At 2:20 left in the 4th quarter, Irving Fryar is injured. I guess in 1994 the rule did not exist about an injured player in the last 4 minutes results in the cost of a T.O. That would have been the Dolphins last one. The Dolphins would have had to spike the ball, because they would not have a timeout left to bring on the FG unit.
Trolls Okay, all right. Once upon a time, someone on this board accused me of being a troll. And then some jerk posts this kind of crap (the worst moment of the worst game in Jets history) and he's A-OK. Yeah dude! Let's re-live the one moment that killed the Jets! That drove a stake through our hearts! Even worse, you got some idiot saying that "This was a good thing" ??? WTF? Please. Anyone who watched the Jets that year would not call the Marino spike "a good thing." The team was bad for a very long time after that. Just for the record: NOTHING GOOD CAME FROM THE MARINO SPIKE, OK??? And no one says anything on this board when some idiots who probably weren't even around back then spew this nonsense. BUT, I got attacked for questioning Mangini & Tannenbaum and their doubtful draft/game strategy??? I am about to lose all faith in this freaking message board. Seriously, I am beginning to think it's all just a big joke, and that there aren't many true Jets fans aboard and that there are too many Jet fan impersonators. I would backtrack to check my old messages but hey're all buried in the long-dead past...
this was my first jet home game ever, [i seen them in tampa and miami before] my cousin took me and he kept saying in the 4th qt. the game was over, and we are gonna win, i remember telling him, you know dan marino is the king of comebacks, i sure wish i was wrong that day, that game started the downfall for the 94 season, we were 6-5 miami was 7-4, the game was for 1st place, well we finished 6-10 that season, and the you know who era began, ouch a painfull reminder
yeah man, absoloutly nothing positive came out of that game, and yes it seem like there are some gg members who's post replies are just to be assholes, look for misspellings, and dont talk to much about the game of football or our jets
How did this become the worst game in Jets history. Honestly, I would watch that game again before I'd watch last Thanksgivings game again. And dont even get me started on the playoffs. lol
This was a bad day. I remember after we lost that game I actually broke my parents computer chair.
I was at a business meeting where Marino was brought in as a guest and signed autographs at the end. I asked him to sign "Sorry about the fake spike", but he politely declined. Geeez!
You have to look at this game through the prism of time...at the time, we were beside ourselves...at the end of the season we were in shock with the hiring of Kotite...2 years later, we were in the depths of despair because the franchise had reached its nadir...but then Parcells, and the most productive stretch of winning in the franchise's history--10 years with the best record in the league--no championships, but 2 division titles, a conference game appearance and 5 playoffs in 10 years--unbelievable by previous Jets standards. Rewinding, let's speculate what happens if the Jets hold on and win that game. They move into a first place tie with Miami at 6-5-1, with Buffalo a half game behind. Looking at that game, it was clear the Fins had a better defense. They had a young Brian Cox. They had Marino, still in his prime and we had a past-his-prime Esiason, who in 3 years, couldn't get us into the playoffs. And we had Pete Carroll, who never amounted to anything in the pros. How much longer would Leon have stayed with Carroll if we finish the year out at 9-7 or better? Do we miss the open window on Parcells than 2 years later? Maybe he goes to Buffalo instead or somewhere else. 14 years later, it's probably the best outcome for us, although it was murder at the time.
