i see what u guys are saying with the PM but i mean come on its not like there's a game going on at this exact second or anything...
I don't know. I think this is kind of cute actually. We're watching a budding romance. It's like a reality show for homoerotic baseball meetups. BTW: Don't ever count on jonnyd not to flake on you. At least I'm up front when I'm probably not going to show up (which is pretty much ever.) He'll lead you on and never come through.
So I see... Anyway, for those who have watched our Soap Opera now for some time, it's just me and tballlz going to the game. The other one has shit to do. Prick ass motherfucker. This is the end of this saga. Tune in next season when jonnyd finally makes the plans and gets the tickets only to be struck by (key in melodramatic soap opera noise) AMNESIA!!!
haha you guys are right...no more romance in this thread. And yes, I did flake out hahahah. I am puppet master. I have tballz and rmaggedon goin to the game on my idea
From the Yankees web site: What the hairy f**k!?! This kid has played some great infield for us, and hit decently to boot. But they want to make him a "super sub" who plays the outfield? I thought he was our "shortstop of the future." This organization really pisses me off.
He wasnt going to be our SS of the future because the Yankees arent going to go back to 1981 when short stops hit .234. With his bat he was never going to be an everyday player on the NYY. Becoming a "super sub" (term makes me hungry) is only going to help his chances of holding down a roster spot in the future
To me, that's just stupid. It's not necessary to have 9 guys in the lineup who hit .298, 20+ HR, 90+ RBI. Guys like Brett Gardner, Francisco Cervelli and Ramiro Pena can all be big contributors if you ignore their offensive shortcomings. Glove work should not be underrated, especially at shortstop. Now if they have a prospect in the system who has the glove and the stick, it's a different story. Jeter's not getting any younger though.
If Pena is going to develop, he needs to play every day. That's pretty much the bottom line. And I don't think anyone ever called him "the shortstop of the future." ETA: I don't think anyone is underrating glove work... but you just said that a third of the Yankee lineup should be below average hitters.* * - I actually think Gardner can be league-average or a little better. But I know you and others think he sucks.
