Good luck finding that. His best tape is against Michigan State this season (which I am trying to find so I can watch it again). It's prob the reason why people love the guy, but I'm still not overly impressed.
Hackenberg is the kind of QB you do everything in your power to get. If that means trading back in rd1 this yr to stockpile picks next year, you do it.
I would kill for Hackenberg on the Jets. That guy is putting Penn State on his back, if his teammates performed better against Ohio State, they would have won. Hackenberg reads defenses, has a quick release, strong arm, and has all the fundamentals down. He's got a STRONG gun-slinging mentality - and I think that hurts him a little, but the kid is just a gamer.
Dont evaluate the system Mariota plays in, his tools are there and his football intelligence is superb.
You know, I heard the same thing about several other Oregon QBs in the past. I remember hearing the same thing about players from Texas Tech.
understandable but like most things there are exceptions short QBs, spread QBs, even Kaepernick who people questioned Mariota idk he just gives me a different feeling. I haven't wanted a QB this much since Luck
Kaepernick sat for like 2 seasons, he had that luxury to sit and learn behind Alex Smith on being a pro QB. I don't believe the Jets have this luxury. I like Mariota, he seems like a good person, good football IQ, tremendous potential - but I don't see him as being the best prospect since Luck, not 1 bit.
EJ Manuel Geno Smith Mike Glennon Blake Bortles Teddy Bridgewater Johnny Manziel Derek Carr Mariota is better than them all
Gross 2013 NFL Draft QBs, they suck man we can agree with that one. I think Carr and Bridgewater are better QBs, more equipped to play in the NFL early, develop and become franchise QBs for their respective franchises. Blake Bortles sucks, I already knew that one and same with Manziel. I think what you mean to say is Mariota has the most POTENTIAL.
Oregon has been a QB bust factory for some time now. - Kellen Clemens - Joey Harrington - Akili Smith Harrington and Smith were highly regarded entering the NFL. Smith, was also an athletic quarterback who was viewed as a dual threat QB. What was Smith's problem? He never grasped the complex pro offense.
Gonna admit up front I haven't seen much of Hackenberg, but... Penn State is still a 4-3 team with a loss to Northwestern, with all their wins coming off teams that aren't exactly powerhouses. I've heard that a lot of the talent around him left after last season, but aren't we getting our hopes up a little preemptively about a guy who's still a college sophomore and doesn't appear to be dominating at his level of competition? Worth keeping in mind that if he does explode out as a prospect for the rest of this year/next year and establish himself as the clear #1 overall, the Jets are going to need a very high draft pick in 2016 to pick him up, which means back-to-back truly abysmal seasons. And somehow I don't think the Jets will be -quite- bad enough in 2016 to be picking #1 overall.
Nah, Mariota is far more talented. He runs, he passes with accuracy, has the arm strength. He's far better than those 3 QBs in my opinion. Mariota might go down as the most talented Oregon QB ever (next to Dan Fouts). Akili Smith was talented too, but he was a headcase and didn't showcase leadership qualities.
More non sequiturs. Let's compare players from the same college 10-12 years ago or a player with completely different skillset to Mariota because they wore the same jersey. Too funny. _
Not reaching - if you remember Akili Smith coming out of the draft - he was extremely talented that could run and throw the football.
