Youd have the perfect situation. Smith will be making 1.25 a year, of Sanchez rebounds, he will still be cheap for a playoff QB. Around 2016, you have an issue, but...a good one.

8 million dollars is top QB salary?

This is why discussion is not working.

C, you never cease to amaze me. In the span of two posts, you first state that there is no hope for playoffs, and then call your take optimistic.

I wish I had the time to do a search, but I'm on my phone and it's too much of a pain, so I'll just ask...

Do you remember what you thought our chances were at this time in 2009?

    Try 13.1 mil
We'd save 8.3 mil by releasing him. Barring a massive paycut, he'll be gone no doubt.

that is the point. the only way he has any trade value is if he improves dramatically, but if he does improve dramatically there is no reason to get rid of him.

and Sanchez 2015 cap is 15.6 mil
he will be gone after this season, and Smith will be starting at some point this year.

Only real question is whether that is opening day, after a couple weeks, or not until after the bye. Really how soon Smith starts is up to Smith. The coaches will play him as soon as realistically possible.

His Salary, is 8.5. His prorated bonus, is 4. Thats a function of his rookie deal.

But today, top tier QBs, are approaching 20 per. Counting Brady, who gives the home town discount is disingenuous.

You clearly misunderstand the difference between cap charge, and salary.

    And what year it is.

And how the cap works. (pssst..we would accelerate 4.5 million INTO the cap, taking his charge from 13 to 17.5 if hes cut)

Since your math seems to differ from mine, explain how we save 8.3 mil by cutting him.,,with such an exact number surely you have some factoid?

That's actually a rare truth from you, my mang. Maybe if someone could compare a quarterback that actually accepted a top tier quarterback deal in the past couple of years...

I still wouldn't be surprised to see a close comparison, but Brady has a beard wife that is worth high billions and he doesn't really want for money these days. He has the luxury of giving a hometown discount.

Oh..well if Sanchez gave the hometown discount his cap hit would be 1 mil. Or at least charged for his performance.

You want another truth. You will like this one.

Sanchez.,,and Our Defense are better than the three QBs we face in the first 4 games.

The remaining team is NE. Rex/Nacho have a decent record in a fair fight,

    But..

We get NE, on Thursday, Following Opening day. No film, No time to adjust to Sundays film, while Rex and Co. Are very familiar with NE on both sides of the ball.

Thats a pretty big Wild card...

4 Games, against beatable opponents (and for any one not named Byz, these guys have won in Foxboro, including in the playoffs.,.so lay off the crazy talk...no one is pulling a Joe Willie here) ....

    Umm
    http://overthecap.com/cap.php?Name=Mark Sanchez&Position=QB&Team=Jets

    Your reporting his 2014 numbers...And his 2015.

This year...if we cut him, we accelerate 4.3 mil into the cap, for a 17 mil charge, losing four mil in space.

You claimed wed save 8 mil by releasing him. Not this year. Blowhard. There is your link..do I need to explain rhe brackets to you?

And....if the Jets sniff the playoffs, let alone advance...at those numbers hes cheap.

    Try to keep up.

And here is the writeup from Rotoworld:

Mark Sanchez went 6-of-11 with three interceptions in Jets OTAs Wednesday.
One pass was picked off by UDFA DT Damon "Big Snacks" Harrison. Geno Smith wasn't much better, going 4-of-10 with a pick of his own. Coach Rex Ryan called Sanchez's display "unacceptable." The Jets' QB competition is going to get worse before it gets better.

    Just read that...wow, sanchez wow

numbnuts, i clearly stated the 2014 and 2015 cap savings, not this year.
he'll be off the team next year was the whole point, as we'd save 8.3 in 2014 and 12.4 in 2015 by simply not having him on the team for those seasons.
keep up, or at least read what is being posted b4 acting a jackass....
