    Alex Smith is, at best, an OK QB. I too am a bit surprised that they havent made a play for him ,with Manning they would instantly be superbowl favourites.

    yes, but for someone whose confidence has been shattered multiple times like Alex Smith, signing Manning would ruin him once and for all.
