He seemed to be walking on it pretty well later in the game, standing on it for much of the action, even bouncing on it. That is not something you necessarily can do with a bad high ankle sprain.
RichCimini Rich Cimini This doesn't look good: Mangold on crutches with walking boot in locker room. #Jets
Dammit. Glad he didn't try to come back in. Maybe we can get through next week without him, but after that . . .
Hopefully it was just a sprain. He seemed like he was walking around ok by the end of the game. Baxter played pretty well so if we need to sit Mangold against the Raiders then I'm not as worried as I otherwise would be. If he is still hurting come next Sunday then I say let him rest the week. Fuck a consecutive starts streak.
It's not broken. He wouldn't be able to walk around on it if it was broken, unless it was hairline. Either way, you're looking at after the bye week, he's back, worst case.
Any word on what it could be? Maybe a high ankle sprain? Hopefully he is only out a few weeks or something and not a long-term thing. That would be an absolute disaster..
I agree. I would rest him against Oakland since we can win without him. Hopefully he is healthy for the Ravens, but if not, hopefully he plays in the first of two rapings of the New England Fags..
That's a good strategy that will get us through the first series....first play maybe. I can't see a 67 yr old QB taking too much pounding. Just saying.
"Ryan said he feels "comfortable" with the rookie, who played in his first career game. San Diego's system has similarities to the Jets, but Baxter said the communication calls are different. He counted about four mental mistakes, including one on which he erred on the snap count. "It was a little bit of getting used to Mark (Sanchez) because I never took a snap with him before," Baxter said. "I feel like once I settled down, it smoothed out a bit." Considering that he did damn good. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2011/09/jets_nick_mangold_will_have_mr.html
He is a horse. Not a problem. No reason to put him back into a blowout and a good opportunity to get Baxter some work.
