I agree - He no HERM EDWARDS.... Herm was a clown who was never a student of the game.... Mangini was a student of the game for a long time now. His problem was translating the knowledege to the field and relating to the players, THAT is learned. Bellichik had to learn that and it took a long time...

He also starts off in Cleveland with his hand picked DC instead of Sutton... I think after one go a round you have a much better feel for what coaches you want around you and who are "Your players".

I didn't mind him, but I never loved him either, I thought he was WAY better than Herm. A lot of good players were drafted and developed under his watch.

I was hoping they had an experienced coach lined up when they let him go. Rex Ryan has been saying all the right things so far but he is still a first year HC. Hopefully what he says and what the Jets end up doing are very similar.

I'll take actual ability over passion or concern any day.

He got a lot dumber between 8-3 and 9-7, right around the time Favre starting throwing bad picks and killing any momentum we might have gotten in a given game.

As has been said ad nauseum, there was plenty of blame to go around, but I get the sense that you view this comment as supporting Mangini, but in my mind it is actually the opposite. It's a lot easier to coach when the players are executing well - it was Mangini's complete incapability of adapting to the fact that the plays had stopped working that is the most damning point against him. Every one of us could tell that (for whatever reason) Favre was getting worse in every game in December, yet Mangini did nothing to take the game out of his hands as much as possible (or get the OC to do it). That's why IMO he deserved to get fired.

I just think there comes a point where there's only so much the coach can do. Look at the Seattle and Miami games that sealed our fate--the INT across his body left-to-right at Seattle when we were driving, or the 1st and 10 from midfield vs Miami after we had gotten a stop. The pick-6 before the half that totally changed the game. Was he supposed to bench Favre at that point? Not throw the ball at all? Not saying it's all Favre's fault, but if Mangini was that bad a coach we wouldn't have been 8-3 in the first place.

My opinion is that Mangini has more football knowledge in his morning shits than Edwards has in his entire body. The guy can't even manage a clock for fucks sake.

FTR Mangini has a better career win percentage than Edwards.
    Edwards Career record (.421) 56-77-0
    Mangini Career record (.469) 23?26?0

I agree BUT did you see some of the game planning we had this season? We would play a team with a weak run D but we would throw the ball 60% of the time. Now that coaching.

I agree with that, I'm just saying we did get to 8-3 with Mangini coaching and fell apart when our QB and our D did. How we couldn't destroy a bad Seattle team with all backups on their O-line is beyond me. That was such a disgrace I don't know who to blame, I guess everybody.

I think its tough to say whether or not he was better then Herm. Herm inherited a playoff caliber team while Mangini was brought into a franchise that was in cap hell with so many questions at almost every position on the team. Herm has 3 playoff appearances compared to Mangini's 1 appearance. A 5 year old could have done a better job at clock management then Herm while this was 1 of Mangini's strengths. If Mangini had inherited a playoff caliber team like Herm then maybe he could be considered better but he blew it at the end of last season with the team he had built.

I don't care. I shared my opinion of Mangini compared to Herm. What are you trying to debate my opinion? If you don't like it then I don't care.

Don't mean your "opinion" is right and in this case it NOT..funny how you act like a punk when your proven wrong. Herm was way better.

Herm 3 playoff apper. out of 5 and would had been 4 and maybe a SB berth if he didn't have all the injuries in his last season. There was a lot of people picking the Jets to go to the SB in Herm last season.

Mangini 1 playoff apper. out of 3 years. ENUFF SAID

I would like to know why we didn't blitz that much this year. The QB we played had all day to throw the ball that why are pass D sucked.

We've been making heros out of unknown QBs for years and we never get off the field on 3rd down. I'm so pumped to see what Rex can do, be aggressive and fucking stop someone for a change.
