For the next few years atleast: Vilma, Cotchery, Coles, Kerry rhodes, Sean Ellis, Eric Coleman,Cedric Houston (looks great this camp- showed flashes when he got a chance last year), Eric Barton, Justin Miller, Andre Dyson, David Barrett, Brandon Moore, Adrian Jones, probably a few more that emerge this year, and perhaps some of our 06 draft class
The roster will be turned over by 2010. Along with Ferguson, Mangold, Clemens, and Graham, I would expect these players to still be with the team in 2010: Jerricho Cotchery Joel Dreessen Jonathan Vilma Kerry Rhodes Mike Nugent Maybe guys like Leon Washington and Justin Miller and Erik Coleman and Anthony Schlegel will still be around, but I'm not willing to put money on it.
H'mm will see when 10 rolls around but more interesting to see if U are correct on Barton/Barrett who will have grey hair by that time. As for the others since none have shown that they are quality NFL players up till now it will be a huge stretch from them to be quality players 4 years from now. As for showing great in camp it mans nothing since camp speed & regular game speed is like apples & oranges. If all those players you mentioned make it then that means more then 1/2 of the starters of the 10 team will be players not on the 06 roster which says a whole lot of the quality of the players we now have.
With all due respect, if you don't think J Vilma is atleast a "quality NFL player", then I really don't feel like watsing my time debating with you, simple as that In 2010, Barton will be 32 years old.....i guess people get grey hair at 32 usually now a days? in 2010, Barrett will also be 32 years old....????? Another thing, Sean Ellis and Kerry Rhodes are not quality nfl players either??? Atleast be somewhat objective if you want respect
They are just medicore players that will leave zero mark in the NFL. As for JV he is way, way to small & not strong enough to play MLB in the NFL or even ILB. You all look at his stats & see he had a zillion tackles but you do not look further that the majority of them were 5 or more yards d/field cause he gets pushed around by bigger stronger giys. If you find that acceptable then you are really are a unknowledgeable FB fan
Why does everyone bother arguing with Champ? You will never convince he he is wrong. Even if his solution is to simply "find suberbowl quality players" and plug them in and voila.... instant Superbowl victory.
No, I don't just look at stats, I actually watch the games....I see Vilma all over the field making big plays, he gets some tackles from behind because he is so fast, but he still makes his fair share of great plays If we really only have 1 "NFL Quality player", and he his a damn punter, i guess we're really f'd this year.....champ get your bets in to Vegas, you can become a millionaire because last i checked the Jets win line is at 6.5.....surely with no NFL Quality players besides a punter, we will not win 6 games, let alone 2
Are you kidding me about JV. His tackles dowfield are because he runs across the field to cover the other side. Jv will be the best Lb the Jets have ever had. If you don't think Vilma is a Quality Lb then I really don't know what to say.
Sorry to say I think U have to improve a whole lot in your evulataion skills of players. You may want to divorce yourself from the NYJ media hype before assessing any NYJ player. No I am not kidding about JV either sorry to say I am dead serious. Any LB whose majority of tackles is 5 or more yards downfield is valueless which is what JV stats say he is IMHO. They are saying now him or Barton are going to split the position depending on what play the DC is expecting. That says a whole lot of your assessment of him now & for the future
They are not splitting him and Barton....they are playing together, and Vilma will shift to the weak side ILB in the 3-4, in order to use his roaming skills and speed to make plays....it's really not that hard of a concept, and zach Thomas who is tiny for a 3-4 ilb did just that last year, and had a pro-bowl season Do you have a clue?
Vilma led the league in total defensive plays which include tackles, pass deflections, INTs, fumbles forced, and fumble recoveries. On those plays, the offense averaged 4.3 yards gained.
Since I do not follow him I do not know. But cause he got a rep within the NFL Lewis must also make game changing plays which JV does not. One thing is for sure JV is NOT a LT & I would suspect most experts would also say he is not a ML either
JV & LT played 2 different positions and cant be compared that way. If you want to use Harry Carson instead then that is fine.
3 4.3 yd gains per series also means the chains are moved unless my math is incorrect. Sort of a mute point now since him & Barton are going to split time from the news from camp
