Maybe Jet fans like the Jets because they need someone to look down on. Maybe we just like saying "we told you so" Maybe it's just familiarity with adversity. Who knows. I think a team of psychiatrists should set out on a study of Jet fans and unravel the secrets of the inner universe. It'll probably cure cancer.
Let me just set the facts straight onthis one Pete kendall - 0 Touchdowns this season. Kevin Mawae - 0 Interceptions Chad Pennington hassn't sacked anyone but himself (which is about as accurate as anything) Vilma - Tastes like shit and still less filling. Lets try to keep reality in perspective here folks.
The article in the Daily News this morning says it all - during Mangini's tenure, the Jets have won 3 games against opponents with winning records. Let me repeat that - 3 GAMES. This coach and staff are a joke, and, as much as it pains me to say it, its time to start over YET AGAIN. If this team would just hire an experienced NFL coach, maybe we could get off the merry go round. But with clueless Johnson at the helm, its not likely.
You have not been watching the Saints. Even with all the injuries, the offense is not the problem. The defense has been sloppy. Vilma has been so-so. Please don't tell me you looked at tackle stats and determined Vilma is playing well.
^Not really. I used to plan my Sundays around the Jets game - now its an afterthought. If I'm around and nothing else is going on I'll tune in. Haven't watched an entire game this season. I'm to the point of "call me when you're in the AFC championship game". 40 years of this nonsense is enough.
I have not yet reached that point yet, but there have been a couple times during the Mangini era where I have flipped to another game and missed a few plays here or there. It used to be that I would not miss even one single play of a Jets game.
I've just convinced myself that they'll never win a SB at this point. Add that with a few anti-depressants and a bottle of Cappy and you have quality sunday afternoon entertainment.
Boo Ya! That is an excellent point. Rosters in the nfl are constantly recycled now a days. They have brought in some really talented players.
I kind of expect us to lose every Sunday. I know that if we have a shot at winning, it will be a close ugly game. I hope we win but then if we lose I accept it. In the past I'd really get into it and it'd get me down, but now I never put a W next to anyone on the schedule, I pencil in Ls. I had a feeling we'd be in serious danger of losing to the Chiefs. We might win against the Bills but I personally expect a blowout loss. I believe we actually have another game running at that time, so I'll probably just start watching that, then switch back in the final minutes to see us fail after pulling within a TD. Because I've seen this script before.
You might be right. If a FOX game airs in the NY market at 1:00, it will likely be the Packers-Titans game.
The Jets are my Effexor, unfortunately, Eric Mangini is my pharmacist, and he's all out. I liked your comment though.
DUDE!!!! No offense, but.. you honestly sound like you need to take a break. "A few anti-depressants and a bottle of Cappy and you have quality sunday afternoon entertainment." WTF? Are you nuts? That sounds like a prescription for disaster to me. "The Jets will never win another superbowl, and that's just the cold hard truth. " Sorry, that is NOT the "cold, hard, truth." That sounds a depressed person, not a typical Jets fan, or even a football fan. Look, we're all anonymous here, right? You don't know me, I don't know you. But from your recent statements on this message board, I think you might need some professional help or something. These are NOT normal messages you are posting on here. And I am beng honest, I am not trying to make fun of you. And I hope that anyone else out there who agrees with me confirms my opinion. For instance, the Jets have the same chance of ANY other NFL team to win a Super Bowl. Just look at last year. No one thought the Giants were going to win the Super Bowl, in fact most fans and media were calling for the coach's head on a platter early in the season. "Jet fans like the Jets because they need someone to look down on." You posted this message, but this is, again, your projection of your depression, as imposed on Jets fans like me. Look, for the record? I could give two shits if the Jets ever win the Super Bowl. It would be sort of interesting, but... You know what? I just plain root for the Jets, for whatever weird reason. If there are truly people like you out there who think it's a matter of life or death if the Jets win a football game or not? Like I said before. Please get some professional help.
Why spend time here talking about them if your aren't going to make the games any priority? I have hated the turnouts, been angry by the coaching, but why pay attention if you aren't going to be a fan? If you barely see any games, what worth are your posts?
You can follow a team and be up on their status without seeing every snap or living for the games on Sunday. I've been a fan for 43 years - I've invested more time, energy and heart in this team then just about anyone on this board. If I never watched another Jet game, I would still be qualified to post here and give my opinion. But I just can't be the fanatic I once was - this organization has beaten it out of me.
