Did it ever occur to you that TN, AZ or Denver may get to a SB before we do because of last years draft?
Because of one man? New game now ,its team. How long has it been for PManning to win the SB without the supportung cast? Maybe drafting a lock TE IS what we need. Play to Chads strengths.
If the Raiders don't take Quinn,, which will be a big time mistake, he is gonna fall right into the laps of the Dolphins.
absolutely correct! Too many CHAD-fans become blinded to everything that is wrong with CHAD. JWILLY of GREENHOUSE wrote this and it is very excellent: "Heading into camp." This is just semantics. He isn't saying anything. I don't think it's possible for a player to move from the 2nd string to the first during the offseason. All this says is when the season ended, Chad was the starter and when we pick up again, the depth chart starts exactly where it left off. There are only two statements that can be made: Depth chart remains as was until somebody earns a change, or... all QBs come in in equall ground, #1 is completely open and undecided at this point. If you make that second claim publicly, what do you gain? Only a negative, that being you are slapping Chad in the face, as well as telling the entire team your confidence in this QB is not that high. If you make the first statement, you stroke Chad, you maintain your stance to the rest of the team that if Chad does in fact go on to start, that you had 100% confidence in him all along, and you still leave the door open for Clemens to step up and win the job at any time anyway. You can also stroke clemmens privately and tell him he's right there and if he plays well he can win it, but that this is the right public posture for the team. Now I know that the CHAD-fans will cringe and cry over it but JWILLY is correct! In addition, the CHAD-fans have forgotten that winning the SUPER BOWL is far more important then winning a discussion! They spend all their energy defending CHAD but they really do not know why! Here is CHAD's playoff record: Whereas: In his last 4 playoff games, Chad Pennington is 1-3 with 4 TD's. That is not heroic; that is pathetic. Whereas: Chad Pennington is Randy Johnson in Green. We're ran that loser out of town because he's somewhat successful in the regular season and is a loser in the post-season. Whereas: Chad Pennington has exactly 1 TD pass in his last 11 quarters of NFL playoff football. Whereas: Chad Pennington has exactly 4 TD passes in his last 4 playoff games. Whereas: Chad Pennington has a playoff record of 1-3 in his last 4 playoff games. Whereas: Chad Pennington had one nice burst at the end of 2002 and has not been the same since his nervous meltdown in Oakland in the Divisional Playoffs. Whereas: Chad Pennington is getting older and is not improving as the years go by. Whereas: Chad Pennington will not be a part of this team when it's ready to make some real noise as a legitimate division title threat in 2009. Whereas: Jets fans have a nasty habit of holding onto that which never was for way, way too long. Vinny Testaverde, Wayne Chrebet, Curtis Martin, and now Chad Pennington. Thusly, the KCSM/CFABRLT and it's members dedicate themselves to removing the proven-failure Chad Pennington from his role as starting QB of the NYJ and replacing him with another QB, any other QB, just so long as it is not Chad "No TD's In Playoff Games" Pennington I got this from a poster on another board and IMO it is great!
Anyone rational knew that, even if Chad and Clemens duke it out in training camp, Chad would win the starting job.
Ok, lets see. CLEMENS is still a raw first year player who has not played much in the past two years. ( injured in his senior year/ reserve last year) Chad is a multi-year starter who had one decent season in 2002 and has been searching for his game ever since! He has a near-photographic memory and weak arm. He knows the teams plays backwards and fowards. He created more missed plays then TDs last year. 16 INTS and 4 fumbles. Yet he should beat out the raw kid for obvious reasons. Why not bring in a guy like GARCIA/ SCHAUB and let them all compete on a fair surface. Let all start a game with the starters! Whoever plays best is the starter! The team will be better off due to REAL QB competition! The loser can be traded for picks next year! Its a win/win situation! Just do not hand the ball to CHAD and proclaim hin to be the starter ala HERM and Mo LEWIS et al!
LMAO Care to explain your reasoning for talking about his last 4 playoff games instead of all 5? Ummmm...no. Obviously you aren't too big of a baseball fan. Remember 2001? Randy Johnson dominated the Yankees in the postseason. Yankees traded him because he is expensive, old, coming off back surgery, and just isn't that good anymore. Not because of 2 playoff starts. There's no evidence that he is a loser in the postseason he just isn't that good period anymore. Yea, we get it. If you want to keep picking out a couple of stats here and there to try to convince yourself that you have a point go ahead, but I don't think too many people are going to be fooled by it. Oh yea, he's been horrible. 24-19. When he's been healthy the team has gone to the playoffs, he beat a 12-4 Chargers team on the road with a torn rotator cuff. Every player is getting older, he's not that old. Whether he's improving or not you can argue but I saw him do a lot of good things this year that he's never done in previous years. What do you think this is, baseball? 2009?? This is the NFL. If we haven't even been a threat to win the division either next year or 2008 then a lot of people won't be around on this team. "That which never was???" LOL
Why is this news? Is there anyone who thought we would have a different starting QB? Did you forget, we drafted Clemons, not Cutler.
Really? Why? I'm just asking because I'm scared of what the answer might/will be...his team just won the Super Bowl. I think Smith from the Chargers, and the Kraft/Pioli twosome in NE would like to challenge that claim.
since I only brought the articles here, please do not attack the messenger. I credited the guys who wrote the articles. I did not name one guy because I did not want to start anything here. As stated ,CHAD-fans will use up a lot of energy defending their binkey! I am a JETS fan and I am hoping for a TEAM victory in the SUPER BOWL! Unlike the CHADETTES, I do not care who our QB is just as long as we win one soon. It seems that CHADETTES are more interested in winning a CHAD discussion then a SB!
Is it possible to think that the Jets can win a Superbowl with Chad? Or is that just beyond the normal boundaries of reason?
TRENT DILFER? DOUG WILLIAMS/ JEFF HOSTETTLER give JETS fans hope! Even CHAD can win a SUPER BOWL just as long as we surround him with ALL the pieces to the puzzle! The guy just has NOT shown the ability to put the team on his shoulders and carry it to victory against GREAT defenses since 2002. But since CHOKELAND showed the NFL how to beat CHAD, what has he really accomplished AGAINST top rated teams? SD screwed themselves by playing MARTY ball! So the answer is YES! Even ol'noodle arm can win a SUPER BOWL just as long as we surround him with great players! However, CHADs dilemma is that he has failed to beat NE for a DIV. CROWN and home field advantage. Just as long as he can't beat that team consistently we will have our hands full trying to win a SB with him at the helm. HOME FIELD advantage is very important. I hope he proves me wrong! I do not care which QB wins a JETS SB unlike CHADETTES! IMO they seem more intent on winning discussions like this one rather then winning a SB. They seem to lose loyalty for the TEAM in favor of CHAD! If there was a better option for the JETS at QB, would the CHADETTES want it? I doubt it too!
I would want to see Kellen as our QB next season but Chad didn't do anything last year to be demoted. I think another year on the bench for Clemens isn't going to hurt and it seems as Chad plays motivated knowing he could be benched. Since Chad has been the starter there was no chance of him being benched long term in favor of Fiedler, Ramsey, Vinny, or Quincy Carter. Nw there is a kid who was drafted high and could take his spot Chad has played a bit more with the passion that he had in 02. I think having 2 QB's that are in favor with the CS is a good thing especially if they can both get the job done.
You realize this is nothing but a move to please the masses right? Chad's still going to have to be the best QB in camp to hold the job.
I really would've rathered open competition, but he did say the starter entering camp. So I guess that means kellen can still win the job if he earns it?
