I'm buying into the hype. I know it sounds crazy, but he always seems to leave an eye-opening impression every time we see him play. The guy has insane hands, can make athletic catches, and is quick with his feet. Becoming the #1 WR on the team may be a stretch, but he's certainly got the tools to be a slot receiver at worst. ...that is, if he can stay healthy.
I was insane enough to read this thread....with that said, this was a good post! The play calling has been crap, our defense is confused and out of scheme, and our halftime adjustments are piss poor. Now onto the bad...Im so sick of reading about how either Mangini is or isnt the problem for the 13,394th time...can we please get over this discussion? Its been beat so many times, the horse no longer has anything left to beat. -Scik
I think this discussion is only in the infancy stages, and will replace the CP v. Clemens discussion for a long time. Fer sure.
We certainly should blame the coach for Pennington's two shoulder surgeries and them wanting to bring Clemens along at a slower pace than the fan base wants to just like we should blame him for Vilma's knee injury which might be why he has been awful or Jones's achiles injury which hampered him early or Dyson's and Miller's injuries which have forced Revis to start from day 1. With this healthy world class roster the coach who took them to 10 wins last year should be burned at the stake.
Keep blaming injuries, but the fact is there is not a great disparity of talent in the league other than the top couple of teams, and the Jets roster is more talented this year than it was last year, except at LG. The mindless defense of this regime is funny. Jets fans are duped once again.
So I guess Tom Coughlin is a brilliant coach? Most of the members here figured the Jets to roll over them based on talent before the season. Most on here think Pennington is far better than Manning and Coles and Cotch are a much better WR tandem than Burress and Toomer and Vilma is a better defensive player than anyone on the Giants. I'm betting you think so to. Guess what our talent is in our young players who are inconsistent and are developing unevenly, it's a QB driven league and we have the weakest armed QB in the league who is making crappy decisions with the ball. We are in every game with "equally talented teams" our QB has been the worst player on the field in terms of decision making down the stretch of all those losses. The QB has the right to change calls and check down on his own, How is that coaching?
This CS has been outcoached in every game this season, including the Fins game. It is clear as day that the Giants made superior halftime adjustments and overcame a 10 pt halftime deficit. Only those who buy into manidiot's spiel continue to blame this season's disaster on execution. it goes much deeper than that.
Well, when you're 1-6 and in the same division as the best team in football, it's not hard to realize that the season is over...especially when the Bills beat us and have a better record.
So then the only time the team has played better in the second half and made half time adjustments seems to be the only game where Kellen started???? Isn't that odd to you.............
That is a good point, but imo the Ravens D was playing quite differently when they were up 20-0 than when it was 0-0. But what was different in that game is that the offense opened up when they got way behind.
So you think the Jets are as talented as the Giants and if Mangini was as good as Coughlin at making adjustments we win that game?
Yes buuuuuuuuuut it is Man & Tans JOB to put together a team that is at the least at the same level as other teams in your division. That is what they are getting paid for right? At least IMHO if we had a proactive owner that really cared about bringing to the fans of his team the very best possible team seasons like this would not occur. As the owner Woody is the CIC so he is the 1st person to look to since Man & Tan must be super aware Woody does not care if we are not TOP NOTCH otherwise Man & Tan would have insured that the 07 edition would be at the NEPs level of talent
No argument with me on this however the team they took over was a dissaster and a multi year project. You can't catch up on talent with the Pats in one off season when they have so many more quality players at almost every position. Of all the Pats FA's Thomas would have been the one to go after. On the other hand, I can't see us getting him for equal money and to over pay for him at his age and without us having a proven QB yet might have been a waste of money? Woody stayed with Bradway and Herm to long, Lombardi couldn't turn around this team to compete with the Pats in 2 off seasons.
Yes I certainly agree that Herm & Bway did very little to improve the team during there tenure in NY however OTH watching what we did in the last over season bringing in only more medicore players to add to the medicore players we already had really left me wondering if Woody's was really the GM telling Tanny what to do which meant keep it cheap opting to pocket the money instead of finding play makers
I don't think Harris and Revis are mediocre players and hopefully Clemens will be much more than mediocre. At the end of the day this regime is going to win or die based on Clemens performance in the next 3 years.
