"For winning, the green team got a better postgame meal -- barbecue, compared to cold sandwiches for the white team. They also got to watch movies on the bus back to team headquarters in Hempstead, N.Y., while the white team got no such luxury." The team didn't have a BBQ, they just got to eat BBQ. I also think a BBQ is pretty common around the NFL, its just that Herm has them to an extreme and since we don't follow other teams, we don't know what they are doing. I only read a few posts, so I don't knwo what the argument is with Champ. All I know is that this camp is nothing like Herm's.
Do you really think legitably is a word? If you do that's pretty pathetic, especially if you are actually old enough to have been a Jets fan since 1965. I would think that with that much life experience you would have a better grasp of your language. I wonder what you think legitably means, you should probably give it a meaning for us considering that you just made the word up. Here's a tip, check out www.dictionary.com before you click Submit Reply to make sure you're posting real words, that might help improve other members' reactions to your posts, just a bit.
Believe me, it wouldn't at all. I'm just glad he was good enough to fix the syntax of his god damn sig.
It's obvious what word he meant to type there, so once again, why harp on someones typing skills? Most people don't proofread their posts before hitting submit.
I had to go back and read what you wrote one more time because i wasnt sure, but you make absolutely no sense...   and i bet you were the guy in the front row taunting all the Jets and the CS..yea that makes me a troll and you the hero...tell me another joke buddy!
Not at all. Champ has actually stated that he sells his tickets, and instead tapes the game at hope, and watches them after the game is over because he saves time due to commercials. Others can attest to this as well, as sad as it sounds.
My problem, Champ, is not that I don't think you are a great Jets fan, because I think you are, and I think you've invested the decades of emotion and season ticket money into proving that. My problem is this HUGE logical gap that I have; and I don't think I'm alone here. Until I can wrap my brain around this thing and reconcile this gap, I'll never sleep comfortably: I guess I have to start by asking a question - Is there any joy for you in the course of a 16 game season? You're right when you say that the goal is to win the Superbowl, but if it were just about winning the Superbowl, we wouldn't need a 16-game season. We could just start with a big NCAA-type bracket. See, I've been around here for a few years, and I lurked quietly even before joining. In all that time, I've never seen a single post from you expressing joy over something that happened with the New York Jets. Sure they haven't won the Superbowl, but they have had some successes. Those brief moments seem to be enough to keep me coming back looking for more; and, of course, the keep me hoping for that great big prize that you seek. So, I'm stuck in this thicket, trying to figure out what compels you to keep following the team if there's no joy at all - even BRIEF moments. It's 6:00 pm. My work day is winding down. It seems that, after 5:00, I turn into Dr. Friggin' Phil of NY Jets fandom. Dr. SLW Friggin' Phil, I suppose.
Right, so I guess it's not important to take pride in looking intelligent when you write and speak. And for the record, I certainly could have overlooked it if not for the fact that the guy almost always dogs members that attempt to complement the players and staff. Just read back in this thread where he says we follow with blind faith, that the hiring decisions were wrong because no other team was interested in any of the top 3 coaches on the team, and that the organization has not put together a LEGITIMATE combination of coaches and players. I mean, if someone is going to hate the team that much then why be a fan? So there's why I pointed it out, because that attitude pisses me off. Also because I think it reflects poorly on the level of intelligence in society when people first of all don't know how to speak properly, and secondly, don't care to improve it thus passing it down to kids who will never know any better. I'll continue to point it out if I feel the need.
if i had a chance to even be in NY...i would be at every game i could possibly make it to. Instead i have to watch them every sunday on TV in hopes that one day they will play good enough to make it to the big dance...Champ...from the sound of it, your ability to understand simple logic is pretty bad if you ask me...(99% of members on TGG would probably agree) Your arguments are sadly based on what you saw in 69'...Many of us didnt see the JEts win the Superbowl, however many of us have, but do these people go around picking arguments with other TGG members about how the team sucks these days and will do anything to "try to" prove their point, meanwhile failing to back up your argumetns with substance? this is your logic: A normal Jet Fan: Hell yea!!! the Jets beat the Titans 35-0. What a good start to the season. Both sides of the ball looked good! Chad was in command and the Defense looks solid! CHAMP: I laugh at the Jets. They wont win shit against anyone other then the Titans. Unless we win a superbowl this season, the Jets in my eyes are a failure. Now you might as well just turn off your television come sundays, and when word comes around to you that the Jets won the Superbowl, then you can play it back and watch it...it may save you a lot of heartache, God forbid the Jets go 15-1. Hell, you'd probably still be whining about something if the Jets won the superbowl
Sundayjack..im trying to figure out whats bothering more. The fact that in one post, you have easily described what bothers me about champ OR the fact that you were lurking around here for a couple years before you posted...I just picture this madman...taking notes on every poster before invading.
Puh-lease. I'm as big an advocate of proper spelling and grammar as anybody, but just because someone spelled one word wrong in a friggin sentence doesn't require a soliloquy on the other end... ...and it's especially not worth the trouble of trying to get this thread back on the right track.
TGG was court-imposed therapy to break my internet porn habit. Soon, I'm going to have to take up smoking to quit this. EDIT: Note the edit stamp below. It was to fix my typos. We all make 'em.
 I did take out my frustration on you..reading back the thread in question...my fault..and sorry. Not to get off topic here...lol. Champ is in my opinion...a really good poster. Hes is your typical old time Jet fan. As much as I get into it with him....he is the poster boy for every Jet fan that has been around since the last superbowl win. I totally disagree with some of the things he says...but some of the younger guys have to understand that some of us older fans are having a pretty tough time believing that any coach can bring us to the promise land. Some guys just remember a Marino fake spike...or taking a knee..or Rich Kotite. There are a bunch of us that look at those blunders as icing on a really horrible cake. Wherever champ posts..the threads are usually long..and its a good time of the year to argue and pass time. He even called my reference today moronic. Thats fine with me. He takes a pretty good beating around here but there are some that understand deep down inside where he is coming from..he just travels there a really unusual way. See Sundayjacks post above..because for older jet fans..thats really the only thing we wonder about him.
I heard that SJ leaves the DMV supercomputer running all night long, scouring TGG posts for any mention of him so that when he comes in in the morning he knows exactly who to go after. Guy doesn't miss a thing
 To be honest it was none of my business and besides reading back you were correct it was a pretty brutal thing a now banned poster wrote and if PFJets is around i would apologise to her too...besides those political threads get too heated, i'm going to leave em in future to others and concentrate more on the would you hit it threads...anyhow back to topic:grin: Champ is an icon of the board, who else can raise everyones blood pressure the way he does....should have his own fan club...i wonder what would happen if he did experience success though, i imagine he would be pretty crushed.
