    Because if the 'plan' works then Fitz works.

    He's not here because he's going to compete with Brady, Elliot or Ryan for MVP honours. He's here to complement the D, protect the ball and not lose us games.

    Now what I've just written makes me sound like a complete nuthugger given he leads the league in INT's but lets breakdown the situational stats on that;

    1st to 3rd Quarters: 174/106 60% 1205yds 6TD 3INT (6-1 at the half)
    4th Quarter: 63/30 47.5% 356yds 0TD 8INT

    On when the TD-INT's occur;
    Jets Lead: 1 - 0
    Tied: 1 - 1
    Trailing by a score: 3 - 2
    Trailing by more then a score: 1 - 8

    Based on the current rate of progress and treating the rest of the schedule as equal to the beginning, Fitzs stats for this year over last are (not including Baltimore);

    2015: 562/335 3,905yds 31-15
    2016: 669*/381** 4,323yds*** 15-33

    *Jets season record - 590 (Vinny 2000)
    ** 343 (Favre)
    *** 4,007yds (Joe '67)

    So the lesson would appear to be that Ryan Fitzpatrick is not the kind of QB who will drag a team out of a huge hole in the 4th quarter (As if no-one was aware of that!) and as the Bills, Texans and others on here have pointed out - you're not going to win games if its on his arm alone.

    What was the result of Fitzpatrick's "embarrassing hold-out"?

    Maccagnan initially offered Fitzy a three year deal. Fitzpatrick saved Maccagnan from himself.

    But, you wouldn't understand that sort of thing.

    What does any of that have to do with Fitz being a complete dumpster fire this year?

    Get a clue and re-read the exchange above

    You get a clue.

    Your hero is done.

    Fitzpatrick is the starting QB of the NYJ. Get used to it.

    This is a New York Jets Fan board.

    You are not a New York Jets fan. You obviously have another agenda.

    Take it elsewhere.

    Enough of your garbage...I don't feel like arguing your ignorance (trolling?) anymore

    Fitzpatrick is a career failure that has taken franchises that believed in him down with him one by one...The Jets are simply the most recent to get duped by him

    You could have just taken a look at his history in the NFL to come to such an easy conclusion....but you probably wouldn't understand that sort of thing

    You are
    i watched it...a few times...i'm just not buying what most here are inferring from it...to me it's a case of the board going into Mehta mode...which is ironic because he is usually universally despised here.

    Yes, Fitz is average at best, garbage at his worst...but that doesn't change the fact that his PC yesterday is nowhere near as volatile as many here are making it out to be.... You wanna bench the guy...fine, his stats warrant it... but this board seems to think his PC warrants that and that it is absurd

    Prepare to be personally attacked by the bullies on this board .

    Not sure why the operators of the board tolerate it, but obviously they do.

    Some agenda perhaps.

    Everyone has an agenda huh?

    Actually what he said is an opinion that I don't agree with but I respect it...your posts are generally just spewing ignorant garbage so people will tend to call you out for it

    Grow a pair and quit being such a dumbass and maybe people won't bully you LOL

    Not to worry. Just think of this as a potentially lost season.

    I think at some point in the next 2-4 games, Petty will get his shot. I'm basing this on Fitz's propensity for just screwing up at any given moment against any type of competition. Bowles has to commit to starting Fitz since he is what the Jets have as far as the only experienced viable option. Just a matter of time when he has to think 'enough is enough'.

    A quarterback's job is to lead the team on offense, is it not? Also, calling his performance awful is a big exaggeration, based more on the previous games. How do you call somebody awful when they are 9/14 with a 115 passer rating and a TD with zero turnovers?

    I was happy to see the Jets finally running it in the red zone, good things happen when they do. Plus the defense finally clicked. They have lacked that aspect for much of the season.

    out of his 9 completions 8 of them were at the line of scrimmage. Come on man did you watch the game? I wouldn't say Fitz was awful or anything but he really didn't do anything.

    the defense gave him the ball inside the 30 twice and if it wasn't for a Brandon Marshall strip he would've only put up 3 points there.

    We know the type of QB Fitz is. He's not a world beater. He's a game manager. He managed the game and did fine. He didn't fuck it up. That's more than we usually get out of QBs here in Jetsland.

    actually that's more than we usually get out of Ryan Fitzpatrick. He is not a game manager traditionally and he hasn't played like a game manager all year.
