Man, Wish you gave this pep talk whilst there was still a chance to jump on some other teams bandwagon!

    Sad.....Is being a Jets fan

Without blind optimism and forlorn hope we may as well migrate over to the Pats, Steelers, Bronco's or Hawks board.

Good thing I play in fantasy leagues, weekly pools, and draft kings or the NFL would be so depressing with just the Jets

Those other things help make the NFL still kinda fun when your team blows....that and a bunch of bad food and alcohol

I'm not all that depressed. The Jets are in better shape now then they were a few years ago.

2016 is a cesspool sure, but a few years ago they had zero talent on offense and a coach still trying to play 1980s style football in the 2010s. At least were closer to the modern age today, we got some budding young talent at the WR position and most of the bad contracts they can get out of and Fitzpatrick is done after this year no matter what. If it turns out they got the wrong coach they can get a new one and he has some nice pieces to work with.

Treat the rest of this year as if it were a bunch of preseason games. Evaluate certain players and evaluate the decision making of the HC to see who's worthy of staying and it doesn't really matter if they win or lose

Best chance does not equal good chance. I don't understand why people get that confused

Fitz gives us the best chance to win ? Really ? I sure wish we were not begging or better yet I wish Petty was healthy or that our second round Pick was not a project ! Is it possible that Petty is healthy and they don't want him seeing the field ? I wish someone would interview Petty

Yeah I'm not so down on the future but it's still kinda sad when your team has almost no shot at the playoffs before Halloween

If Petty plays well we have great things ahead and even if he doesn't we still have other options to get a QB

The rest of the team is pretty solid, just need a few pieces here and there

I still think you put a good QB on this team and we're probably 5-2 right now with a great chance to make a run....Fitz has been that bad this year but many of us saw it coming

Why is it so delusional against a soft schedule? Last year Fitz was very streaky. 4-1 start to 5-5 to 10-5. Granted the Jets don't have Decker but it's certainly doable with the easiest schedule in the league to close the season out. To suggest that Hack or Petty has a better chance of winning out than Fitz is a bit ridiculous in my eyes.

I want to see Petty as much as the next guy, but there are a few big hurdles with that. First, he barely has any reps with the 1s. Second, he only returned to practice from the shoulder injury a couple weeks ago. Third, he has never taken a regular season snap. Now if the Jets lose 2 more games, I think that is exactly what will happen, but for now we live or die with Fitz.

If Petty didn't get his shoulder wrecked - I'd want him now as its really the ideal opposition and ideal situation to make your first start. Unless we're on a win streak I hope to see him get in before the Pats game, I wouldn't want that on him as his debut.

As for Hack, I want him on the practice field throwing the ball correctly a thousand times rather then being put in and resorting back to 'muscle memory' when the pressure comes.

It's really hard seeing the name "Hack" being used, and realizing its not me you are all talking about.

That's ok. I'm sure all of you could come up with lots of new names to call me :p

It's delusional for a number of reasons. One, he was streaky last season when we had a soft schedule. Even at that check out his completion percentage and other stats last year aside from TDs. It's pretty bad. We don't have a soft schedule this year. The toughest part of our schedule is over, but not necessarily our toughest games. We still have to play the Pats twice and the Bills again. We have to play the Dolphins twice, and they're playing well. They aren't nearly as bad as some posters here try to portray them.

Two, check out Fitz' history against better teams whose record is above .500 and/or who are/were playoff teams. It's awful.

Three, Fitz has been awful this year. He obviously took it easy during his "holdout" with the Jets and didn't practice or work at getting better. He missed the OTAs and mini-camps.

Four, he has an inaccurate rag arm. Opposing teams know this. They stack 8 in the box to stop the Jets' rushing attack and the short underneath routes and dare Fitz to beat them long. Fitz is hesitant to try most of those longer routes because he knows he doesn't have a strong enough or accurate enough arm and is likely to throw interceptions.

Five, Fitz is a dumbass. He hasn't learned a damn thing in 11 years in the NFL. He's still not going through his progressions. He decides where he's going to throw the ball before the snap. That's how he winds up throwing into double and triple coverage. If he'd just read the D, he wouldn't do that stupid shit, but he won't or can't.

Six, our OL is too shaky and so is our secondary. Combine that with all the injuries that we've had, and the odds of the Jets winning the next 9 games are probably something like one billion to one. It's just not reality. It's pie in the sky wishful/hopeful thinking.

Seven, Bowles. Unless he stops being stubborn, suddenly learns how to manage the game, make adjustments, learns when to call time outs, starts holding players and his CS accountable, the team is more likely to lose the next 9 than win.

Petty definitely has a better chance of winning more games than Fitz. No QB on this team is going to win 9 straight games with this team. I doubt Tom Brady could, unless our D started playing like they are supposed to. Opposing teams have little or no footage on Petty. He has a much better, stronger, more accurate arm than Fitz and can make all the throws so opposing teams wouldn't be able to stack 8 men in the box and take away our rushing attack and underneath routes. He's smart. He's poised.

Due to Hack's poor fundamentals and accuracy, there's no way he could win 9 straight games, but I'll bet he could win more than Fitz for the same reasons that Petty could.

But your argument was about Fitz being worse than the other QBs on the roster and not giving us the best chance to win. Most of your points have nothing to do with that. I know he's had a shitty year thus far, and I know he's a mediocre journeyman QB that struggles against good defenses. That doesn't make Petty or Hack better options. In reality, none of them (Fitz, Geno, Petty or Hack) have a chance to win 9 in a row... but out of what we have, Fitz is the best option based on the system we run, and success last year with virtually the same team. You think they stack the box now or that OL is problem now? Wait until Petty or Hack starts.

Fitz sucks, but you asked why it was delusional to think that the Jets could win 9 straight games with Fitz at QB. All the reasons don't have to be about Fitz, and aren't. He's only part of the problem, but he's a BIG part of the problem.

If the reality is that the team can't win 9 straight games, then there is absolutely NO reason why Fitz should ever see the field again as a Jet barring disaster, especially with his post game comments on Sunday. He's gone after this season. He isn't the future. The Jets need to find out what they have in Petty and other young players. They need to try to develop Petty, Anderson, Devin Smith, ASJ, and Peake, and continue Enunwa's development.

You're flat out wrong that opposing teams will stack the box more vs Petty or Hack than Fitz. Petty and Hack ARE better options because they don't have Fitz' limitations (stupid, noodle arm, inaccurate, can't read Ds). Those two QBs can make all the throws and won't hesitate to throw downfield to challenge Ds. It would give Devin Smith and Robbie Anderson a real chance to show what they can do and open things up underneath. They don't have a known history of sucking vs better teams. They don't have a known history of choking in big games. They don't have a know history of throwing interceptions in bunches. Opposing teams have little or no footage of them, which always gives an edge to young QBs who wind up starting. That's one of the reasons that Prescott, Siemians and Wentz have played so well and much better than anyone expected.

its not flat out wrong that teams would stack the box more against Petty/Hack. They very much would.

A good coordinator would want to stuff the run, make the young QB beat them, and try to lure them into rookie mistakes by keeping the safeties up. It would be up to those 2 QBs to play well enough and draw the safeties back.

Whether Petty or Hackenberg can keep them honest or not is up for debate but defenses will most certainly stack the box and try to find out.

Genophile? This has nothing to do with Geno and everything to do with not wanting to watch Fitz anymore. He's a tragedy.

He had a great season last year, but he's done. Can't complete a pass more than 10 yards downfield despite fantastic pass pro all year. Last in completion percentage and first in picks.

Idk how anyone could support that trainwreck. You really can't mame this shit up.

There were points left on the field. I think Geno played better personally but it doesn't really matter at this point.

I'm not saying that opposing teams wouldn't try it, just that they wouldn't be successful and would have to abandon that approach in short order, because both have strong arms and can make all the throws, and I think both would go deep. Once they hit a couple of long passes, the defense would haver no choice but to back off. The only reason they wouldn't would be if Gailey is senile and wouldn't let them.
