Here's why you don't cut him IMO:

In the NFL you get second chances for a big payday. You do not get thirds.

Tanny gave Tone his second chance. If he's cut by us he's basically fucked his income for the balance of his career. No one is going to pay him what we are. Not even in the ballpark, so if he wants to be shipped out of town then it's going to seriously cost him.

If Mike and Rex really lay down the law with him that way, he should be treating every year from now on as a contract year, it's just that he knows what the ceiling is now, because one more season of diva blowups and the floor is a LONG way down.

 

That's what I thought too. If we do cut him (which I'm still borderline) who can we get? Dude from Philly is a free agent I think same type of player as Holmes but he looking to get paid.

 

Totally agree. How hard can it be to replace his 3 catches a game.

 

Are you aware of the salary cap hit if we cut him? It's pretty bad. Also, that Dude from Philly is worse than Holmes when it comes to prima donna B.S. so even if we had the cap room to sign him, this train would not be leaving dysfunction junction anytime soon.

 

Bottom Line:
1. Holmes and Sanchez will both be back next year as #1 WR and Starting QB
2. Plax, LT and Schotty will not be back
3. Jets will add a Veteran QB as a backup and serious challenge to Sanchez
4. Huge changes will come in 2013 if 2012 is not a solid year for regular season, playoffs and team discipline/unity.

I think you're pretty much dead-on here, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if LT hung around. Good locker room guy, can still bring something to the table as a third down back and occasional fill-in.

 

I think the longer we keep LT it will affect the progression of McKnight as a RB and we will never see Bilal. I've seen some highlights of Bilal the dude is not normal. Then again maybe LT can show him a thing or too. But of course this all requires a solid OL

 

Jets have so much talent that we can cut a top 5 player on the team with no problem. Maybe we can get derrick mason back to replace him.

 

Personally, I hope I am wrong and LT is back. If he is not, I think it will be because he decided to retire or go elsewhere for his last year or two. I would bet one of those two things will happen.

guaranteed money and a huge cap hit - he isn't going anywhere. There was probably no poison pill in his contract for being a bitch - just drugs probably. If they can prove he was being a bitch because he was high they can probably cut him for nothing.
