This is a rebuilding team, unless that third becomes guaranteed theres no way you trade important picks for a guy thats 27 at a position where the breaking point is 30. Deuce is extremely talented but lets not forget folks the market for running backs is extremely high at this time of year, why buy when the market is going to come down after the year? Realistically this is a 6-10 team, might as well wait it out and wait till the market comes down DRASTICALLY like it does in the off-season.

Personally, I don't see why the Saints would do this. They're in a great situation right now, with the ability to ease Bush in while still shifting most of the pressure to the talented vet.

But this is what happens when people listen to sports radio. Unsubstantiated crap.

I would make this trade. It would make this years team competitive, which is something we are not with our current bcks. I didn't believe that Suggs made us better, which is why I was opposed to this trade. McCallister, on the other hand, does make us better, as he will give us enough of a running game so that the passing game has a good chance at being effective.

As for the ACL tear, I'm fine with that as well. Many RBs come back fine from them.

we're in a rebuilding year...you don't trade away draft picks when you know you are going to have a difficult year to begin with...especially 2 first day picks.

Totally agree! We are in a rebuilding mode. Never should we trade high draft choices for any player. IMO if we go 5-11 or 6-10 we would have a great season. Would trading for one player make us contenders? Let's be patient and bring in good young players.:jets:

no thanks he had a bad injjury and i dont a limp in the jets backfield either let houston start or trade for thomas jones(I heard that cedric benson is getting healthier and the bears might be willing to make a trade.... I wouldnt mind T.J. duckett either if the jets gave no chance to cedric)

I would place extra contigencies on this deal and do it.

    Redskins 2nd rounder + conditional 2007 3rd rounder

    Conditions:
    1) 2007 pick becomes 1st rounder if he rushes for 1,500+ yards
    2) 2007 pick becomes a 5th rounder if he rushes for less than 1,000 yards or plays in less than 12 games.

I can't understand some of you...

McAllister is a great Running Back...He's 27 years old and would cost the Jets one of their 2nd rounders, so it's making the Redskins trade look that much better, it was very good when it occured, and now this could possibly happen...And throw in an extra 3rd for next year? WHY NOT!?

He for sure will not rush for over 1500 with this OLine and coming off a torn up knee, it takes 2 years anyway usually to recover from an ACL, i'm not saying he'll have an Edge James type comeback, but 2 years removed he could be very good and would only be 28 year old, in the prime of his career.

Excellent size and a power back with good speed being 232 pounds. 3 Consecutive season of over 1,000 yards before blowing out his knee...

That deal would be great...The extra 2nd rounder and a 3rd, for a young RB who can carry the load 25 times a game? Come on people.

I like McAllister, however I do not do a trade for him where there's a possibility of the Jets having to give up their #1 pick. I could just see the scenario where even with a 1,500 yard year from McAllister the team still only goes 5-11 or 6-10 and the Saints get a top 10 pick out of it.

Exactly. This would mean dealing down with the Skins in April netted Deuce. Come on, this would be a stroke of genius. We were taking Clemens anyway, so we walk away out of the 2nd round with Clemens and Deuce...

Now of course this isn't factoring in the 2008 pick. I'd not give up a 1st rounder, regardless of the yardage he rushes for.

    Que?

So the Saints would get no penalty by ridding themselves of him?

If we can get him for the Redskins' second, then you have to do it, regardless of the ACL. We'd be getting a top 10 caliber RB who still has AT THE VERY LEAST 3 or 4 prime seasons left. No brainer.

Man.... you're a complete and utter fool for even uttering the phrase "2 1st round picks" when talking about a trade during a rebuilding phase.

28 years old off an ACL tear. I'd do it for a 2nd rounder this coming year only. Or a 3rd rounder this year and a 3rd the year after. I don't want to potentially give up 2 top 50 picks.

I agree Id hold out for two number 3's....but eventually Id cave first and give them what they want....for all of you who think its ridiculous are just continuing the losing mentality of this franchise.
