Man, that would tick off all those people in NO we saw after Katrina leaving the mall with armloads of McCallister Jerseys  Its sad when I hear his name that's the first thing comes to mind...

But seriously, no thanks to a bad knee. At least at that price.

to me, that is bad logic. they have 2 second rounders. that doesnt make it a less valuable pick.

The more I think about it, that deal has to be made. Why? Cause if he has a bad knee, you lost a 2 and 3,,, not the end of the world. If he rushes for 1,500 yards, obviously his knee is fine and losing a 1 two drafts from now obviously is fair. Since the Jets have two second rounders, it's worth the risk.

considering we are rebuilding, he is 28 now. by the time our offense gets good, he will be over 30 and we will have re-enacted curtis martin II. not to mention the fact that he is coming off an injury and will cost us high draft picks. what dont you see about that?? wouldnt u rather just trade up next year with our 1st (prob around #10 next year) and our 2nd rounder for adrian peterson?? at least hes healthy and 22 and is the right age for our rebuilding offense.

If he is 28 and with a bad knee thats got more red flags than a soviet war ship. Most backs start slowing down at 30. That means he's coming off a torn acl, which takes a least one season to fully recover from according to history and will be a rental for 3 years tops? (Of course this is all contingent on him not being superman)

Ah, McCallister. I thought Staley for some reason. My only concern is his knee. Then again, if it's a real issue, he'll probably end up failing the physical (from Hell!!) anyway. I'm on board.

that would be great if he rushes for 1,499 so we dont have to give up the first round pick

I would be hesitant to give up a 2nd rounder next year, let alone an additional pick. They are asking too much.

Can anyone else confirm that they heard this?

I don't like this trade, this is a deal someone like the Redskins might make, but we're REBUILDING. I like McAllister, but getting a 28-year old RB coming off a torn ACL doesn't really fit in that plan. I'd rather save the picks and go with what we've got, if they don't pan out and we get another high pick then we can just take a Peterson, Bush, or Lynch who would only be in their early 20s and can be our RB of the future. Then we'd still have the other two picks to fill other needs.

Also, doesn't Deuce have a big contract? I don't think we can take that kind of cap hit.

Deuce is one of the most talented backs in the league, I am and always have been a huge fan of his.

I don't think he was used correctly by Haslett, who put the ball in Aaron Brooks??? hands instead of giving it to Deuce. The Jets couldn't sacrifice giving up a #1 next year, but if the conditional pick was a 3rd guarenteed then I'd do it in a second.

It's a big gamble to go for Mc Allister. He's a great running back, but, a torn acl affects running backs far much longer then it does any other position. Right now, the Jets should play hard ball, because he's never gonna see the field with Bush there. Maybe for a player and later pick, but that's it.
And on another point, very highly unlikely he'll rush for 1,500. Jets Oline is to knew for that.

Benson is hurt, no way they deal him.

McAllister is 27. That's it. He's off an ACL, so it's a risk, but it may be worth it.

    He's signed thru 2012.

    2006 1450000.00
    2007 2600000.00
    2008 3600000.00
    2009 5200000.00
    2010 6200000.00
    2011 7100000.00
    2012 8100000.00

Of course, he never has to see those ending salaries because there would be NO SIGNING BONUS attached.

Before he would be traded, the player and the new team have to create or restructure a contract. Given his injury and knowing Tangini his salary will decrease dramatically and be filled with incentives. A second and third in two different years is not a bad deal given he is healthy.
When he is healthy...Deuce is a beast and can give us that down hill runner that we haven't had in a long time....however, he has been seen limping occassionally.

Can anyone else confirm they heard this? What kind of crap is that? What do you think i'm making this up? Get the heck outta here. Francesa had it on today. That being said, you do raise a point I forgot about that Francesa was saying and that is the cap and how it would effect it and that was the part being thought out.
