Coles should be offensive player of the week. I would take Coles on his bad day then Purplex anyday.

Stats are deceiving. Burress is a bigger target in the red zone, so the corner fade will be called for him more often, where Coles has played the bulk of his career with Herm as coach and Curtis Martin in the backfield.

Coles doesn't call the plays to stretch the field. Its not Coles thats not stretching the field. He only runs the routes the play is designed for.

The Jets should really try and draft a reciever who has height.

absurd, Coles is going to catch 100 passes this year, Burress will never ever ever do that. Coles is bar none the better all around football player.

there is no need to catch 100 catches when ur ypc is 16.0+
look at randy moss and TO those guys dont catch 100 catches year in , year out because those guys can take 1 pass and house it.

in coles situation everything 10-15 yards so of course he needs to have 100 catches to have a effective season.

coles is on pace to have is best statiscal year but he Ypc is one of his lowest in his career this year.

I understand, but it still doesn't make that a negative for Burress, or make his stat line poor.

Not to offend you or anything but high school and the NFL are very different. First thing, when a play breaks down in the NFL the play usually ends up busted because you have extemely good DL rushing the passer. When a QB is able to escape the pressure it is a rare thing and the WR's must adapt. It is really hard to measure where Coles goes after a play breaks down. I'm sure he breaks more for open space than thinking that he must go deep or come in.

    To the Pennington Bashers:

    Coles YPC is 12.2
But he is 29th in the league in YAC..So do pass the BS that it is a 2 yard pass with a 10 yard run.

And he is the 6th most targeted reciever in the league. But, I suppose you will tell me if he had Peyton or Favre he would be 1 ...Because everyone knows you must have a rocket arm to be successful in the NFL...Ask Joe Montana.

You need to think things thru man. He played 2 years with Patrick Ramsey. For as bad as Ramsey is, the ONLY thing he can do is throw the deep ball. Did Coles stretch the field then? NOPE.

I like Coles over Burress, mostly because Burress is a cancer to your ballclub, but Burress is more talented. Coles is an overachiever (this is not putting down his talent, he has very good talent) which is why he performs better. Burress doesn't get out of his physical tools what he should.

In the same amount of years Coles has played in 7 more games (2 more starts) 105 more receptions, 281 more yards, 7 less TD’s, 48 more first downs, 13.1 ypc compared to 15.8.

Not at all. Just my take on your question as to why he'd have 3 more TDs with so many less catches. I remember seeing Burress in a bowl game his senior year and thinking he'd be great, but we had Keyshawn at that time. I'll bet Keyshawn's TDs to receptions will also be higher because he's also a big target in close. That's what I miss most about him.

This line here is so wrong. I watch every game.

Where would you think the Jets receivers rank for YAC?

Not even in the top 10...
