Hes been in the NFL two seasons and missed half of one. At this point any conversation about injury prone or his physically being unable to play are over exaggerated fan talk. Better yet, that some weird assed meal ticket is about to end. Sometimes we have to think, anyone who gets injured in one of his two seasons misses a chunk of available playing time.
You're welcome. The Jets' sorry history of 2nd round picks comes up somewhat regularly here, so I thought it might be helpful and interesting to research it a little and post the info here.
Weird ass meal ticket? Are you unfamiliar with the words and what they mean? He missed half a season and he’s already on the IR. That doesn’t really bode well for a guy with an injury history longer then anyone would like. Obviously the Jets aren’t going to cut the guy tomorrow but if this persists through another season then it might be time.
He needs to be on the field for a significant period or time. His body of work isn't deep enough to allow him to miss more time especially with a new FO/CS that has no real investment in him. Potential only takes you so far and results carries the rest of the way.. Maye needs to play.. Period.
Maye played a full schedule and then missed 10 games. I don’t think that’s enough evidence for either side of the argument to make any declarations.
Ring ring ** Sanders technically never completed a full season, which is always an accomplishment. Like I said call me when hes only playing 4-6 games in consecutive years.
How? He played 6 games last year, so if he only plays another 6 this year, he will be on thin ice probably. I dont think he will get cut.
One more time. No shit, he was hurt in year two. He missed part of the season. We know. Just as anyone could figure that if you miss half a season in 8 years its no big deal, if that injury happens in the first two, its looked on differently by some who like to cry the sky is falling. He missed games, in one out of his two seasons. That isnt injury prone unless it keeps happening year to year. Not now. And that someone had an injury, a real injury, doesnt bode any one way or another unless it continues. Not because it sounds so much more daunting if we make it into a ongoing issue. Shit, lets just cut him. NO, lets wait until next season, when they probably will. LOL, this is why fans arent GMs. Its football, people get hurt. Bones break, shoulders bust. Happens. One time isnt chronic, isnt a trend yet.
He missed part of one season. Time for people to calm down. I dont get the no real investment in him line. He was drafted by the team. He played well, when on the field. Hes a good player. It more than potential, he can play/ Because he was injured in one of his seasons he has to watch his ass? His cap hit, whatever it is doesnt count because Gase/Douglas didnt invest in him?
Nothing specific, he's just a hack. That video is the first time I've seen his name since Rex was HC.
He wasn't drafted by the present FO/CS so yeah, they haven't invested in him. Frankly, I'm surprised there hasn't been more of a roster purge.. Every year, EVERY player has to prove they belong and that includes Maye. If and when he comes back, do you think they're just gonna hand him his spot? They might not have a choice. The question isn't can he play, the question is can he STILL play. Maye will have to show that one way or the other and that can't be done off the field..We're not talking about an perennial All-Pro here.
They pay him, they have him on the cap, theyre invested in him. He cant just be cut and we get to walk away from the commitment thats left because Macc/Bowles arent here. Thats how I'm looking at it. Yes, players are evaluated all the time. Maye will have his spot handed to him on a platter when he comes back. You dont lose your job due to injury. Someone would have to come in and play like Palamau or Reed to take his job and that aint happening. Hes a player who had a really good rookie year, who had everyone excited to see how he and Adams would be as a duo moving forward, one injury season wont change that. BTW, where is the "Crowder is hurt again, Macc, WTF" thread? He missed half the season a year ago and was injured yesterday. But Maye, just rehabbing from a year ago needs to go. No one is looking at the obvious. Teams put players on hold with the pup or some other injury list to make room for practice bodies all the time. Makes no difference to the rehabbing player, Maye wasnt going to go into practices and hitting while on his rehab assignment.
