I wasnt able to come up with any issues from college, but could be me. I'm not the type that thinks broken bones or a separated shoulder constitutes a injury prone history. Hammy pulls, tears, toe and foot issues yeah. Broken bones are more bad luck to me
He had some issues in college. Had his meniscus reconstructed as a HS Senior and had a set back after he was finally cleared to practice as a freshman with the Gators, he had swelling and missed alot of camp. Then he injured his shoulder against Miami week 1 . Injured his Hamstring in camp in 2014 as a sophomore and missed several weeks of camp. Then the broken arm to end his career at UF. Not debating if he's injury prone or not, just mentioning the injuries he had at UF.
I get you, its cool. I couldnt find the other tweeks and issues. I thought he was redshirted his freshman year though. But really a scoping, which is ridiculously common and hammy. I knew he had a shoulder injury in college, assumed this one was because of that one. Oh and a broken arm. So hes had a tweak or two and a shoulder broken arm. Not great, but nothing that says chronic injury list candidate. Hes not Miliner
Pansy. Should've signed Earl Thomas to team with Jamal Adams in the secondary that would've been a sight to behold. Oh well too late now. Back to the bust, new GM & HC here now he lost his second round pick clout card. He better get out on that practice field asap or he may not make the opening day roster. He should be on the bubble.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nyj/draft.htm The best 2nd round draft pick the Jets have ever made was their very first draft as the Titans in 1961. The pick? Herb Adderley, HOF DB. Sadly, because the two leagues were separate then (NFL & AFL), there were separate drafts, the Packers took him in the 1st round and he signed with them. The rest was history. Following is their complete history of 2nd round picks for your edification (and crying or laughing as the case may be). While compiling this list, I made an interesting discovery. 9 times the Jets haven't had a 2nd round pick. The Jets took more tackles and WRs in the 2nd round than any other position (7 of each). Sadly, most of them sucked. They also took 6 DBs, 6 QBs, 5 DEs, 5 LBs, 4 RBs, 3 TEs, 2 DTs, 2 Gs,1 C, 1 K 1961 - Herb Adderley, DB HOFer with the Packers 1962 - Alex Kroll, T 1963 - no 2nd round pick 1964 - Lloyd Voss, DE 1965 - John Huarte, QB 1966 - Sam Ball, T 1967 - Rich Sheron, TE 1968 - Steve Thompson, DE 1969 - Al Woodall, QB 1970 - Rich Caster, TE 1971 - John Mooring, T * 1972 - no 2nd round pick* 1973 - Robert Woods, T 1974 - Gordie Browne, T * 1975 - Anthony Davis, RB * 1976 - Shafer Suggs, DB 1977 - Wesley Walker, WR one of the best drafts in Jets' history 1978 - Mark Merrill, LB another very good draft 1979 - Mark Gastineau, DE 1980 - Darrol Ray, DB and Ralph Clayton, WR (the Jets had 2-second round picks) 1981 - Marion Barber, RB 1982 - Reggie McElroy, T 1983 - Johnny Hector, RB another very good draft 1984 - Jim Sweeney, C and Glenn Dennison, TE (the Jets had two 2nd round picks) 1985 - Lester Lyles, DB 1986 - Doug Williams, T 1987 - Alex Gordon, LB 1988 - Terry Williams, DB 1989 - Dennis Byrd, DT 1990 - Reggie Rembert, WR (head case, was traded to Cincinnati) 1991 - Browning Nagle, QB 1992 - Kurt Barber, LB 1993 - Coleman Rudolph, DE 1994 - Ryan Yarborough, WR 1995 - Matt O'Dwyer, G 1996 - Alex Van Dyke, WR 1997 - Rick Terry, DT 1998 - Dorian Boose, DE 1999 -Randy Thomas, G 2000 - no 2nd round pick 2001 - LaMont Jordan, RB 2002 - Jon McGraw, DB 2003 -Victor Hobson, LB 2004 - no 2nd round pick 2005 - Mike Nugent, K and Justin Miller, DB (the Jets had 2 - second round picks) 2006 - Kellen Clemens, QB 2007 - David Harris, LB 2008 - no 2nd round pick 2009 - no 2nd round pick 2010 - Vlad Ducasse, T 2011 - no 2nd round pick 2012 - Stephen Hill, WR 2013 - Geno Smith, QB 2014 - Jace Amaro, TE 2015 - Devin Smith, WR 2016 - Christian Hackenberg, QB 2017 - Marcus Maye, S 2018 - no 2nd round pick 2019 - no 2nd round pick * some of the worst Jets' drafts in Jets' history
The Titans didn't cut or trade Adderley - he was drafted by the Packers in the first round of the NFL draft (12th overall), and unsurprisingly signed with them.
Relax pal. Perhaps you enjoy lashing into people and getting it in return, but it won’t come from me.
OK, thanks for the correction. I had forgotten that there were separate drafts then. I'm relieved to know that the Jets didn't screw up with him. At least they had the good sense to draft him.
1. "their very first draft as the Titans" Wrong. The Titans 1st draft was not in 1961. The Titans and the American Football League was founded in 1960. 2. Herb Adderley: "they (the Titans) either cut him or traded him." Wrong, again. Herb Adderley was not "cut" nor "traded" to the Packers. Herb Adderley was a 1st round pick of the Green Bay Packers, a franchise in a successful, solvent league and a franchise who had just played in the 1960 NFL Championship Game no less and NOT for the Titans, a fledgling franchise playing in a nearly empty Polo Grounds in the fledgling AFL. I agree. .
Don't quote me after reporting me asking Brook to get me not to reply to you in this thread, how does that work btw? and if you chat shit you will get pulled up on it, the same when you try to deflect what you said by changing it to pro injuries and not college injuries. If you think that is being attacked you need to develop some skin thicker than crepe paper, you're a joke man.
I quoted you prior to. Again, chill. You seem to think I have some sort of agenda. I could care less if you or anyone disagrees with my take on Maye’s injuries. Move along with your day/life. Not worth the aggravation.
Oh god. If I were Joe Douglas, I would have this list posted in everyone's office that handles the draft in some way. This has got to change. It isn't a surprise that our drafting has yielded historically bad teams. It starts and ends with the draft. Its super cliche, but its probably even more important in the modern era because rookies are on a wage scale. Having to overpay for free agents isnt a winning strategy but for decades we have had to resort to going there to get talent.
Nobody doubts the kid can play when healthy. Up to this point, he’s been physically unable to play. The free meal has to end at some point.
True enough, but his injury history works against him in my opinion. Nobody will mistake Maye for being durable.
