Is it my imagination or it appears to me that the same people that wanted this team to tank for a hi draft choice and a HOF QB would be first in line with the pitch and fork and the bill board sign to fire the entire staff if it happened.
Knowing the pride of any decent staff and the fickle temperament of the fan base, one should ask the question, what idiot FO would ever do that?
This team is at the crux of the issue, Far too good to tank but struggling to get the one piece we need to be great.
May the Hack miracle be upon us.

Your basic premise is accurate, but imo with clowns like Richie Kotite, Rex Ryan, Eric Mangini, Bruce Coslet, et al, they could have stayed here 100 years each and NEVER made it to, much less won, a SB.

You're probably right, but the clowns with the pitchforks should be the ones impaled on their own pitchforks.

This team is way too good to tank and there is no sure fire franchise QB coming out next year.

Last year was too much fun to turn it back the other way.

I'm sorry a coach that can take a team to back to back AFC championships can coach. No coach in Jets history has ever done that.

God that would be idiotic. Fitz offers NOTHING to this team at this point except further holding us back.

Deshaun Watson from Clemson is a highly touted prospect.

With a team that Mangini put together. Every year that Rex was involved with the draft, the Jets got worse.

Plus it funny how when people on here doesn't like someone they like to blame them for shit that not even his job. Rex was never the GM.

    GeNO.

And the hopes for the overall #1 to go with it.

P.S. If that means protecting Petty and Hackenberg this season, I have absolutely no problem with GeNO in the pitch. I don't care what the record becomes if that happens; Petty and Hackenberg shouldn't see the field, even if GeNO is about to go full paralysis mode out of injury.

Anyone who even half seriously suggests playing the season looking for draft position needs to turn in their TGG card.

    1. Draft position tidbit was a joke.
    2. I even put in the further explanation to clarify my position. If you don't understand that portion - tough luck for ya.

Outside of two 7th round draft picks in Deon Simon from Northwestern State (Southland Conference) and a punter in Loc Edwards out of Sam Houston State (Southland Conference) I've recognized specific traits about our GM & scouting department over the past two offseasons; these guys really love & go after kids from big name schools/programs within popular conferences. For example: Leonard Williams, DE out of USC (Pac-12). Devin Smith, WR out of Ohio State (Big Ten). Lorenzo Mauldin, OLB out of Louisville (ACC). Bryce Petty, QB out of Baylor (Big 12). Jarvis Harrison, OG out of Texas A&M (SEC). Darron Lee, LB out of Ohio State (Big Ten). Christian Hackenberg, QB out of Penn State (Big Ten). Jordan Jenkins, OLB out of Georgia (SEC). Juston Burris, CB out of NC State (ACC). Brandon Shell, OT out of South Carolina (SEC) & lastly Charone Peake, WR out of Clemson (ACC). This stood out to me. It's also apparent that our GM is doing his due diligence on both finding us a long term franchise quarterback by taking Petty during the 4th & Hackenberg during the 2nd rounds as well as completely re-vamping our LB core with youth picks of Lorenzo Mauldin, Darron Lee & Jordan Jenkins. The more i analyze our previous two drafts, the more appreciative i become of how & what our front office is trying to succeed at. The drafting of Leonard Williams last year? Appears (today) as being a genuis decision now that we've lost Harrison to free agency. I've also noticed a detailed focus on our offense from the front office over the past two offseasons (a breath of fresh air) by trading for an animal of a #1 WR in Marshall, picking up a dangerous 3 down back in Forte come Free Agency along with trading for Ryan Clady as soon as D'Brickishaw Ferguson's retirement was announced. When MAC became GM we all knew about his track record as a talent evaluator but he's imo he's also done an ourstanding job with front office negotiations. Reminds me of an all business/no nonsense type of GM in Maccagnan. Just think about it; he's literally refused overpaying for a 34-35 year old career journeyman in Fitzpatrick. He's not getting worked over during trades either. Received Marshall for only a 5th rounder as well as Clady for only a 5th rounder. Even got back two 7th round draft picks during those trades with Chicago & Denver. If Clady can stay healthy that'll make for two home run trades during consecutive offseasons in Marshall & Clady.

You think Barry Switzer was a good HC? All he did was take over what Jimmy Johnson established, that team was considered one of the greatest of all times.

Hand the ball off to Emmit Smith, who was behind an all pro OL, with and all pro FB, with a HOF QB, throwing to a HOF TE, and a HOF WR.

Let's not even talk about how stacked they were on the defensive side of the ball.

So no, your premise that any HC who makes the playoffs can coach is not correct, sometimes a HC just steps into the right situation.

Give me a HC and GM who can build a program from the ground up and make it succesfull and that is the guy I want leading my team.

Rex tore down the Jets and he is tearing down the bills, he won't last there because he does not know how to build a team on both sides of the ball.

He was already given an ultimatum by the owner, playoffs this year or lose your job.

No one says that to a HC that they believe in.

    Your smarter than that Geno.

Up until the draft I was completely on the Mac bandwagon

I freaked out during the draft with the Hack pick and questioned Lee in first round (could have taken him later)

But the UDFA signings, the 2 punters and Peake in the 7th got me back on board...so we will see

No he's not. The more you read his posts the more you realize he's not only not book smart but he has no insightful viewpoints.

The Hack pick upset me also, however when I happen to stumble on the interview with Mac on the Francessa show yesterday, Mac kept repeating to Francessa that he does not use the draft to pick for need, unless they are choosing in top 5 because there are so many good players to choose from you can pick need and get a good player.

He explained that as the board starts to fall in place, especially in the 20s they choose based on their board of BPA.

(My words)Not Todd Mcshay, or Kiper or Mayock.

We may not like what they do, but we don't vet any of these draft picks, so we really don't know what these players are going to turn out like.

I like Mac, still have some reservations about TB but I like the chemistry of this Admin.
