I know it's a business and all, but hopefully these folks all land on their feet somewhere. I am sure they were given heads up well in advance, in any case.
Call me crazy but it appears Mac has full control. Unlike the past when Idzik had to keep Rex and work under Woody's restrictions. Who knows maybe we would have a different perception of Idzik. Like I said some of these guys made it through 3 regimes and as far as I'm concerned if you clean house everyone truly goes. That hasn't always been the case. People like Bradway should have been let go ages ago.
yeah that was it, it was also the reason we had the longest period of sustained success in franchise history but keep bashing and making stuff up.
No it will be a good time to be a Jets fan when we start getting back to the playoffs. Hell for all we know this new regime could be the worst we ever had. It could also be the best. Firing some scouts doesn't excite me. What happens on the field is what I get excited for not what on paper.
Best move of the offseason. And that's saying something because I thought they had quite a few nice moves.
Then you clearly haven't followed the circus that's been in town for the last several years with Ryan, Idzik and Bradway. You better believe this excites me and a shitload of other Jets fans just for the mere fact that this franchise has been cleansed of all the garbage from the last regime. Based on the moves made in this draft and FA, I don't think anyone could say with a straight face that this regime could be worst than the last one. Like I said, it's an exciting time to be a Jets fan.
I've said it before. Its refreshing to see the common sense and aggressiveness present in Maccagnan's moves. That wasn't there in previous regimes.
He hasnt had issues in years. Not since he's been in Chicago. If you want to be technical not since the week he was traded to Chicago but for something that occurred before that trade. All his teammates have good things to say about him and he seems to have gotten his mental illness in check. He hasn't been a problem off the field in years. Also he gave up barely anything for Marshall.
Mac was definitely pulling all the draft day strings with Bowles. Anyone notice there was NOBODY in our war room except Mac and Bowles and a few people working phones? I don't even think Woody was there.
Woody was there, the Jets official site had a video where he was second? to welcome Leonard Williams to the organization. BTW , Magic Mike addressed the firing of the scouts yesterday, here is a link: http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2015/05/jets_mike_maccagnan_explains_why_he_fired_pro_pers.html
After he fires them Mac says they all did a great job (during the draft) which he got an A grade from MKJ on. But considering job longevity of GMs and fan impatience you can't really blame him if he wants to set up his own organization.
Ah ok...Even still there was a resounding lack of staff in the room. Most war rooms were packed with folks.
I don't know if tampering rules apply to scouts, but I assume not. Hopefully, Mac had conversations with the guys he wants to hire and determined their willingness to come to the Jets BEFORE he fired those he did. If he can't get the guys he wants, he could be scrambling or caught with his pants down. He's a smart man, so I'm sure he has done his due diligence. I think contracts for scouts run from one year to the next, timed to expire following the draft, thus, getting those scouts from their current/previous teams shouldn't be a problem.
