    Wow, what an idiot. You don't pass on being the guaranteed #1 overall pick, not ever. I get it that he wants the degree, but that can come at any time in his life.

    Wow I can't believe it.

    He's most likely going to have a new head coach at Standford next season AND he passed on being the guaranteed #1 pick.

    Now we'll have to see who's gonna step up and take that top quarterback spot for the draft in the upcoming weeks/months.

    As an NFL fan I'm actually happy because I want to see what Clausen can do with a full off-season locked in as the starter.

    I really hope they draft A.J. Green at this point...

    I don't get why everyone is acting like he'll be the next Peyton Manning. He seems to be a legit QB but no 1st overall imo.

    I guess it will depend on who takes the coaching reigns in Carolina...and which direction they want to go in.

    Woohoo Clausen's career in the NFL is saved for the meanwhile! So happy to hear this news, it seemed like doomsday for Clausen's time as a NFL starter in the league. I agree with Mambo....draft Green!

    I say good for him. So what if he isn't the #1 pick next year? As long as he avoids a catastrophic injury he will still go early in the first and be rich as fuck anyway.

    It'll be interesting to see what the Panthers do now. Maybe they trade down and stockpile some picks to retool.
