dunno if this has been posted in another thread ... http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/je...inks-opponents-are-hip-to-run-scheme#comments
Yeah this is basically high school level stuff that they need to fix. Another reason why Schotty sucks.
this is brian's fault too? not our OL guru? It's funny how we all think the OL coach is spectacular but bash Brian, wouldn't they both share blame for this?
Why would the offensive line coach be to blame for where the running back lines up? Basically what we've seen this year is that players are calling Shittenheimer for being too predictable, both in the run and pass game, not being able to adjust, and not recognizing what defenses are being played against him. But some people still defend this guy. I don't get it. What exactly is he doing that is GOOD?? Anybody have anything?
Brian is responsible for the entire offense, the game planning and the playcalling. if the OL is a problem and Callahan isn't pulling his weight, that falls on Brian to right that ship. If Brian is ineffective, then it falls on Rex. It's called "chain of command", junc.
the thing LT specifically mentions is RB depth in the backfield. How the hell is the depth of the RB the call of the OL coach? I would think blaming Anthony Lynn would be more appropriate than Callahan. But still play design comes down on schotty, and play calling definately does. On top of that, it's his offense, so shit runs uphill, whoever designs the thing, its still Schotty's fault for agreeing its a good idea and going along with it. Just like it's Rex's fault for letting something get the D out of rythm and not play physical and set the edge last week, because it's his defense.
It's the scheme, the scheme problems w/ the OL are also on the OL coach. We can't sit here and call callahan a genius and Schottenheimer a moron if the running game isn't working. Everyone gets their share including Briand and Rex.
At this point now through our first 3 games to veterans in Holmes in LT have publicly spoken out about our OC. So this is proof that Schotty haters are not picking on the wrong guy. Fans may overreact but I trust the players within the system. When Holmes called some plays last year we won, the dude knows what he's talking about.
Its the design of the plays that are much of the issue we still seem to hve difficulty drawing up routes that don't take 58 hours to develop. Our gameplan Sun was a prime example of what Schotty lacks..a plan B ...this was evident in Indy 2 years ago when Greene got knicked up also and has yet to be adressed. If his plan a fails he basically is fucked
because these aren't faceless corporate entities, these are players who are friends, who know each other and talk with one another. opposing players didn't tell the "Jets," friends of LT who are on the teams they played told him. there is nothing surprising about the fraternization of players on different teams.
