And he can still fix THAT situation by bringing in Braylon for a physical to see how his knee is and, if healthy, offer him a contract to come back.
Not only would that be a big problem....that would imply that Mark Sanchez is ARROGANT. And I've seen no evidence that he's just that. NONE. ZERO. ZILCH. NADA. Well we're going to find out one way or the other whether it was the system or not since Schitty is gone. I'm loving this, just so you know. Everyone was on Holmes nuts while telling Braylon to take a hike....well NOW those people have egg on their faces and I couldn't be happier.
This whole mess starts and ends with Rex...his philosophy of letting everyone speak their mind while having a QB who is introverted is good when things are going well but horrible when they are not. Holmes though is the main problem he got paid & could care less about anything but his touches which is ‘good’ if he was T.O. and worked hard but he was probably in the 20-40 range among receivers in the NFL this season. I don’t mind that LT spoke out he has earned it and it puts the spotlight where it needs to be on Rex & Management. It also shows that Sanchez is no pushover he maintained his composure all season long with his best WR slacking, changes in offensive philosophy & a lousy OL and still had his best season to date. It might seem like we are done with this bad press but we are making changes & finished 8-8 with all that went on, Rex has already off loaded the OC & seems to have got the right man in Sparano but he has to do more & it’s good we are still in the media circle in case he forgets. The Holmes situation will play itself out, he will either come to training camp overweight(or have his offseason drama's) & be cut or shape up & have a decent season and be cut/traded after next season it’s very black or white with him after this season... Next season is when we will see...Rex it’s all on you....
I like Braylon a lot. I loved how he played for the Jets. He and Sanchez had an undeniable chemistry and he made Holmes more effective. I thought the Jets needed to keep him over Holmes (I could see the argument both ways though). However, I can't see any way the Jets could justify bringing back a guy with as many off the field issues as he has given the way this past season transpired. They keep talking about "high character" guys. He not one of them. He's one dumb decision away from a major suspension.
I think you are right on it being on Rex to a certain degree, as a stated strategy of Woody/tanny has been to accept 'problem-character' recruits, such as Holmes, counting on Rex's leadership to create chemistry and commitment. Upside obvioulsy being lesser price and availability. This has backfired. But to claim that Sanches kept his composure throughout the season is wide of the mark.
I love LT but these comments make little sense to me, hes still under contract with the possibility of resigning so all of this should be kept in house. Of course we are the Jets and everything is out in the public, teams will be laughing at us and how the locker room has folded. It seems to me that some of the players need to wake up and realize how lucky they are.
These media networks really emphasize on criticism of their former teams...Woody, Jenkins, LT...They are probably advised to be honest about their older teams to make them look unbiased. ESPN has a habit of having players glorify stories in return of a regular gig at the shit network
So is Santonio Holmes. Just saying... And the justification that the Jets can find in bringing him back is this : 2010 NFL Season. 900+ Yards receiving(forgot how many TDs); Made Holmes look good, ran-block like mad and never quit on a play; has excellent chemistry like you said with Mark. PLUS, since it's do-or-die for Mark Sanchez next season, you would think that the Jets brass would want to give Mark the best opportunity to be successful. Bringing back a healthy(hopefully) Braylon is the way to go, IMO.
Pampered might have been the wrong word to use, but again it was THEIR word, not LTs. He pretty much said that Sanchez is pampered in the way that he has no competition, not that he's treated like royalty or spoiled. People easily forget that he's still a developing QB, and the competition can't really hurt at this point in his career.
I think that's the issue. They took chances on guys like that and got burned by Holmes this year. Strangely, it appears Holmes did it in the locker room and on the field, not in his own time. I think Holmes being an ass will make them look away from guys like Braylon. I wouldn't be mad if they got him though. They would just have to cover themselves contractually in case he screws up.
Mark, regardless of who they bring in next year, should have more than enough motivation to do well. This is going to be his make or break season based off of all of the outside and inside criticism he has faced. He should have rocket fuel levels of motivation based off of these weeks immediately following the jets' season.
Well hey...listen. I'm not saying they should sign him to a 7-year 80 million dollar contract or something. I'm saying that should he be healthy, that they sign him to a reasonable contract WITH AN OUT-CLAUSE(or Behavioral clause or whatever) if he gets into more shenanigans off the field. Or something like that. Woody already messed up by not having an out-clause in Holmes' contract. I don't think he'd make that mistake again.
Jets fans, All is not lost. No one has been accused of eating fried chicken and drinking beer during the games. Stuff happens, I know you will be a team to be reckoned with next year. Stu
Wow. Its amazing how the media can quote these things and twist them into depicting something thats not true. LT was genuine there and pretty respectful. The media made it seem like LT hated the way Rex coaches but it didnt seem like that at all... He just wants Rex to calm down with all of the expectations.
It was not right after winning it all. Holmes was there for one more season. You sure are one stupid asshole.
