Lowery said he never felt comfortable here with his teammates and coaches. It's too bad because he definitely could have filled in at Safety - especially one with coverage skills.
OK, the "he sucked" part may have been a bit strong but even in that thread its hardly like people were tearing their hair out or wondering WTF was going on - most people wer just like "oh well, thats a shame, so anyway......" Now people are acting as though this was some huge blunder by the FO that everyone and their dog saw coming. Like I said, its captain hindsight time.
I'm happy he isn't here to be honest. I know he's useful for depth and all but on the other hand his absence forces the front office to really and truly finally address Safety for the first time in forever and I'm excited to see a real solid coverage TE back there for the first time. When we bring in a passrushing option to complement Maybin and we have a coverage safety along with Revis/Cro/Wilson that is going to be a very dynamic and scary defense. I'd seriously be running like Harris/Maybin/New guy passrusher like all of the time with Scott/Pace/Thomas rotating around as the fourth guy in a ton of situations.
Lowery is really nothing special & I'm not sure why so many wanted him back. The good news about him getting re-signed? I get the sense the Jets were waiting for a safety or 2 to get signed & set the market. Now that Lowery has broke the ice,Jets should know how much one of the remaining safeties is going to cost and what a fair contract figure could be.
