It's actually a common misconception that Brian Shcottenheimer is the son of former NFL head coach Marty Schottenheimer. It's likely due to the close spellings of such unusual names. However, if you look at the OP's thread title, you'll see that in fact, our OC's last name bears a simple consonant switch after the initial S. While Schottenheimer and Shcottenheimer may appear the same due to the human tendency to piece together words based on the presence of all letters and the proper placement of the first and terminal letters, they are in fact clearly different names.

It's the consonant switch that is causing it. This is the kind of investigating you don't get everywhere. The fact that they don't have the same last name is his problem. If Brian Shcottenheimer would have been born a Schottenheimer none of these problems would exist, and so ends the mystery. ToddisGod you owe someone a thank you. Ignatius you're due some propers my man.

If you were a decent poster you would not be getting bashed on your grammar, but when you content is crap and you grammar is crap you tend to get bashed on both.

I love everyone deciding this is a crappy post??? It bears to watch when a coach on your team seems to do everything in his power to avoid how his old man would have handled 2nd 6 from the 8 the other day.

not a melt down believe me. I have to defend myself when I believe I make a valid point. You all time and time again bring up the fact that Brian suffers from trying to be to creative, his old man got bashed for lack of creativity, one has nothing to do with the other abyzmul?

Brian Schottenheimer IS creative. What he is not is PATIENT. He will drive down the field on the ground just fine, but when he gets into the red zone, he wants to prove his brilliance behind going after Sanchez and throw-throw-throw into the endzone.

over creative is what I said, I know he is creative. I just feel he experienced first hand his old man took for getting to tight when the chips were down and it plays into his decisions and play calling.

True, but that doesn't mean he still didn't fuck up. He could have called a perfect gameplan for the entire game; wouldn't change the fact that he fucked up when it counted most -- which is the SOJ motto.

WRONG ! I didn't say they should never throw the ball inside the 15. The fact that they tried to do the same thing repeatedly is another reason why it was a STUPID call. It was also stupid because they had 2/7 and should have run the ball as there was no reason on earth to pass the ball.

No I want him fired because he doesn't learn and he makes stupid mistakes in playcalling over and over again. We just went through this whole debacle in the Buffalo game with his crap playcalling. Ryan acknowledged it and they promised to simplify things for Sanchez which is the smart approach. We get into a game winning situation where the call should be to put the game in TJ's hands and run behind the OL and BC wanders right off the reservation and puts things on Sanchez who predictably fails to execute like the rookie that he is. STUPID Playcalling. Schitty fails to do what he was supposed to do: Keep it simple. Instead he is calling shotgun pass plays which the D could easily defend. Predictable result - everybody covered, incomplete. Schitty doesn't learn same thing again - everybody covered = SACK. Same thing again everybody covered. Incomplete Game Over- Thanks alot BC you bonehead.

He fumbled. If you are going to take the position that you shouldn't run the ball ever again because Greene fumbled in the 3rd - then please take that position - because that is assinine.

Duh. But when its 2/7 from the 12 w/a mistake prone rookie QB and time is on your side the smart play is try to pound the rock inside with your league leading rusher behind your superior OL. The likelihood is that you will advance the football and get a first down and a TD. Instead Schitty chose to do exactly what he had done earlier in the game and the D shut it down. It was a pathetic series of plays.

The team has not had great success. Perhaps you consider going 4-4 when the team should be 6-2 having great success. I don't think Coach Ryan considers that to be great success. I don't think the Jets players consider that to be great success. This team has not had great success. This team needed to put that ball in the end zone and the OC's stubborn stupidity prevented the team from winning the game.

The OC should be fired because he decided to put the game into the hands of a rookie QB instead of his all pro veterans. STUPID. The OC should be fired because 2 weeks ago he was doing the same stupid stuff and the Rookie QB threw 5 INTERCEPTIONS and was repeatedly sacked. The OC should be fired because he chose to do exactly what he had done previously in the game so that the D wasn't fooled and in fact by calling for a shotgun formation the OC telegraphed PASS PLAY to the D. Predictably the D shut it down easily and sacked the QB and then won the game.

I love how folks are arguing that we somehow shouldnt have run on 2/7 because we were only averaging 3 yds a carry. 3 x 3 = 9 Yds. We would have been first and goal on the 2 Yd line if we had run the ball in accordance with our statistical average for the game. For some reason that wasn't simple enough for Schotty. He felt compelled to put the game in the hands of the Rookie QB instead of his all pro RB. That is just about as dumb as it gets. The stupidity is compounded by the fact that he telegraphed pass play to the D and by the fact that the Fins were expecting Schotty to call pass plays since that is what he had done previosly.

The game was very simple: Use your OL and your All Pro RB to run the Ball for the 1st down or the TD. Schotty hates that kind of football so he wound up Fng up what should have been a win by forcing the game into the hands of a Rookie QB who had thrown 5 Interceptions against Buffalo. There was absolutely no reason to pass the ball on 2/7 other than the fact that Schotty insisted on doing so even though it was against Coach Ryan's directives to simplify the game for Sanchez. Absolutely no reason for that call. It led to failure and the loss and there is really no two ways around that fact.

The way I see it is, think about any run-first/run-dominant team in that situation. Regardless of the rushing APC for the game (even though ours was 3.4), what do you think that team would've done there to maximize its 3rd AND 4th Down percentage?
