    4 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 QB hits, 1 TFL

    Took Bowles long enough.

He had the concussion, even though he passed the initial exams, I think Bowles did not want to rush him back. You know with those injuries, the bruised brain may not be fully healed, until some time after the initial concussion.

I agree. I think this sort of thing happens a lot in veteran-laden locker rooms.

Come on now. That concussion was 2 months ago, he missed a game, barely. Bowles had no trouble throwing him right back out there on special teams to crush guys that are running into him full speed. You can't tell me 2 months later he's not ready to rush the QB on defense which is nothing compared to what he has to do on special teams. He's perfectly fine health wise. Pace was out there the same reason Cro is playing over guys like Marcus Williams. Bowles just wants his vets on the field, it's not injury related. Mauldin got the same amount of snaps coming off the BYE he got 2 months earlier right after suffering the concussion. A handful of snaps while also playing special teams. That doesn't make sense. There's nothing that would suggest Bowles kept him out because he was worried about him. If he was worried about Mauldin he wouldn't have thrown him out there on special teams like days or a week after being released from the hospital like I said.

Mauldin is a rookie that suffered a scary injury, two very good reasons why he hasn't gotten more time till now.

And today he showed why he should be given more time, what a game.

Mauldin wasn't drafted to come off the edge like that but he's easily shown to be the best rushing off the edge on the team (i like Reilly too)...

great game and you maybe seeing the end of Coples at least as an edge LB.

Once again, it has nothing to do with his concussion. In week 4 he received 4-5 times the amount of snaps he got in week 6 and 7. Barely a handful compared to the 20 a few weeks before. The most he got this year, probably even more than he got today. There's nothing to this myth of Bowles trying to protect him.

I don't know why bowles hasn't been playing mauldin more but it's entirely possible he simply wasn't mentally ready to play a bunch of snaps in an nfl defense. I don't think it matters why at this point.

I'm sure hell continue to get more snaps now that he's earned them as rookies often need to do.

to be fair I also said its because he's a rookie. the injury belated an already slower adjustment into getting more reps.

For a rookie, taht injury absolutely would play a factor into his decline of playing time. Not only is that injury a scary thing after the fact, it also sets Mauldin back in terms of prep and learning.

To dismiss his injury completley is niave.

You're just using this tact so u can say the same thing about Devin who u were pumping during the draft--his rib thing makes him useless now I guess.

I am a big DS fan, the two are totally different players, with totally different injuries.

DS isn't on the field because he got hurt but he is also extremely behind due to injuries in training camp, etc...

DS has not looked good in the field, his blocking is bad, his routes are bad, and he doesn't have any chemistry with the QB.

He's just not good enough right now to be on the field.

I'm not biased man, Im fully aware DS isn't panning out right now the way I truly thought he would.

WR's tend to be low impact players in their rookie season. There's a big learning curve and NFL CB's and safeties are much better than what they played against in college. LB's are more immediate contributors. So if Mauldin IV is ahead of Devin Smith's pace that's not surprising at this point.

That said, Mauldin IV looks really good. I'm not sure he's the guy who lost contain late in the game on a run but he looks great rushing the passer.

DBH is smarter than Todd Bowles. Don't you know that? I'll be dammed if rational thinking like yours outshines knee-jerk opinions based off of twitter posts

exactly. I am not discouraged about Smith's lack of impact for those reasons, it usually takes WRs longer to "get it". I am worried about the injuries though with him. I worry that they could plague him his whole career because I think he's too small. the Jets website has him listed at 199 but there is just no way. If there is any consolation though I also thought DeSean Jackson and T.Y. Hilton were too small and they have done fine so I could be dead wrong, I hope I am
