RobA, Your obsession with the Jets making the playoffs is madness (So what else is new). Why do you want to go to the playoffs? To be embarrased on National TV ala the Jags game? If this team goes to the playoffs, we will be lucky to win one game. The objective is to win the Super Bowl...no to be perennial post-season doormats. For that, we could have kept Herm. Face the facts...this is not a playoff team. Does that mean we won't get there? No. It means we don't belong there. That doesn't make the season a failure. I am enjoying this season more than any in the past several years. Not because of wins and losses, but becasue I can see past this season. The young talent we are grooming will improve. We have a front office that seems to have a clue. And we have a coach that is smart and aggressive. There are two reasons we aren't very good. We can't consistently run the ball and we can't consistently stop the run. Those problems won't get fixed this season. A season is not a failure if you don't get a playoff berth. This season is building the foundation. Next season is transforming the foundation into wins (and a playoff spot). 2008 is the target for a SB run. Keep a broader vision and you will find your Sundays and Mondays much more enjoyable. DbJ
Good point, but the only thing I disagree with is the first part of your post. I would think that we would all like to see the Jets make the playoffs. To root for your team to win games and then not make the playoffs because you don't want them to get emarassed is kind of absurd. We may not be a playoff team but why not root for them to get there with this easy schedule
I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't root for the Jets to win games, but rather don't make the playoffs the pass/fail criteria for the season. Would I enjoy seeing the Jets get into the playoffs? Absolutely. I'm just not interested in saying that a 9-7 season with a playoff berth is a success, but a 9-7 season without a playoff berth is a failure. The more important thing is to see improvement throughout the season and the development of players. The playoffs are a product of good play. Right now, needing to beat NE (because of divisional positioning) is not as important as improving on yesterday's poor performance. Those that plan on us running the table at the end of the season are the same ones who penciled in a W for yesterday. I promise you that no one at the Jets HQ is talking about what they need to do to make the playoffs. All they want is to get better. That is what we as fans should want too.
Before this season is done, I'm praying more fans come around to this way of thinking DBJ. Great post man!!
Rob..dont take this the wrong way...I like your positive approach. But you remind me of that girl in the stands sitting next to you while your team is losing 41-0 with under two minutes to go in the game. She gets up and screams out loud "come on..we can still win this game!!" You just want to smack her...but sundayjacks mom also said "never hit a woman..even if shes stupid".
ok, sorry if it offended. but with most of her posts, she sounds like my girlfriend. knows absolutely nothing about football and just see's the team thru green colored glasses. i actually am assuming it's a she.
RobA is probably a guy, not many women named Rob. I actually like the guy, which is really funny considering that I'm pretty sure I'm considered the opposite extreme, especially in regards to my views on one cent. I support the most positive guy on this site, while I rail against all the Chad supporters and they get angry at me haha.
I have a feeling that we will get destroyed by the Pats. It wont even be close. same thing with the bears. I hope they prove mewrong.
Well play well in one of the games with a shot to win. I think the pats are better than the bears. Bears have beaten no one. (Seahawks dont count).
Why not start a pool based on how many rushing yds NE accumlates, how many passing yds Brady gets & how many TDs passing & running we give up in the game?
i hope we win, i want to win, but watching their players tear apart the vikings, im not getting my hopes up....hell, they looked fast, crisp and in sinc monday night...its got to be a big 180 from the browns game to win in foxboro. chad needs a big game, 280+ yards...washington needs a big game and coles/cotch need to have an influence. then the D, oh shit, the D. :drunk:
I was really just making a joke about the worst announcing crew in NFL history making a big deal about Belly cutting the sleeves off his sweatshirt. I found it to be quite amusing, I guess I'm the only one..
