It's not that they should try the opposite approach it's they should have a football man as GM rather than a lawyer/accountant/busnissman who is looking at other variables besides what's best for the football operation. If the leaks are true, Tannenbaum is covering his ass by trying to make it seem like he is not making a decision based on what's best for the football side of the equation but what's best for the financial side of the equation. This is the basic problem. The three EVP's of the Jets that report to Woody not one of them is a true football guy. Tannenbaum needs to be canned and this leak is very telling. If he hires Rex Ryan and wanted Shott does that mean if Ryan fails it's because Tannenbaum went with his second choice? If he hires Shott and Shott fails what does that mean, that Tannenbaum doesn't have a clue? I think that he has painted himself into a corner with this leak and the Jets are set up for another coach under the bus.
This would be one of the worst moves in Jets history. Screw continuity, get some people in here who know what they are doing.
You might appreciate this but I always thought if the organization tried to rehab Walt Michaels and didn't have such a Woody for Joe Walton, this team would have won a few more SB. It may well be the Mangini was dumped because of another Woody for Shotty?
If the organization has been doing what the fans think instead of what intelligent football men who can win Super Bowls think, they have no business running the New York Jets in the first place. They have better resources than the fans do. And in that case, 'We should all come together' means a boycott.
Exactly. The Fans thought Michael Vick was the greatest QB in the history of the game in a poll years back. Any good football organziation has to do what it thinks is best to win games. The problem with the Jets might be they don't have anyone who knows what's best.
I can't honestly respond to this one as I remember very little or have blocked a lot from that time period.
