That movie minus the stupid WWII beginning and Transformers ending was a decent try at an adaptation of the Claremont Wolverine story where he goes to Japan. They fucked it up, of course, but the source material was one of the things that got me to go all in on the Wolverine character. It was great. I'll probably watch this movie and enjoy it, and thankfully it will remind me of why I liked the first 2/3s of the first Xmen movie. Just never liked Hugh Jackman in the role.
The premise of The Wolverine had promise but it just failed to deliver. The actual evil plot just seemed ridiculous and I can only hear a high pitched "LOGAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!elventy1" so many times in one movie. It felt like it was the females' every other line.
Since Hugh Jackman has retired his claws, time to rank his X-Men movies: 9. X-Men: The Last Stand 8. X-Men Origins: Wolverine 7. The Wolverine 6. X-Men: Apocalypse 5. Logan 4. X-2: X-Men United 3. X-Men: First Class 2. X-Men 1. X-Men: Days of Future Past
