I think we actually save 8 million by getting rid of him. Only 3 would count towards the cap.

Nm..I see now you included Sheppard's in that.

I don't think there are any. I think it's all a dream. Philadelphia still thinks they can get a top 10 pick for him straight up which is why I find this all too hard to believe.

this could be one of those deals where 2 teams could just help themselves, by helping each other. just like we need to get rid of d-rob, for $ issues, i guess they're in the same boat with shepperd.
i'd love it if it were true!!!

  6. I don't think so.

I see it as us trading a guy who doesnt fit our scheme and has a big contract for another guy in a similar situation who happens to fill a big need for this team.

I doubt it will happen, but it would be a GREAT move...... the money is already being spent on DRob. May as well move it over to a PROVEN quality player.

Think of the backfield of Revis, Sheppard & Rhodes..... if one of the top D players falls to 6 (Long, Gholston...) to bring some QB pressure with those guys back there (also the Pace addition). Harris taking his game up a notch in his 2nd season to improve on the run defense..... Potentially a MUCH improved defense.

i think im the only person who doesnt like this deal. Here are my reasons why

    1. I think justin miller is going to come to play this season
    2. The top of the 2nd round has so much depth in good players compared to the middle-bottom of 2nd round.
    3. I dont trust sheppard's injuries and I'd rather go the safe route and pick up some draft picks that we could package to trade up into the 3rd round.

But if we make the deal and Gholston and Long are gone at 6 and Groves and Avril are gone before the 2nd round pick, the Jets have failed to address their BIGGEST need - a pass rush. The Jets could have 4 pro-bowl defensive backs, but without a pass rush, they'd get beated regularly. It is far far better to have a fierce pass rush and an ordinary secondary than an ordinary pass rush and an elite secondary. At this point, if Robertson can't be traded, he will be cut and the NFL knows that. The Jets are not going to keep an $11 million square peg defensive lineman in a round hole spot on the line, especially when you consider the knee issue.

Yes, I agree, but who's to say getting a pass rusher would be guaranteed anyway? I'd say getting something for DRob is better than nothing. What happens if they don't do the deal, let him walk for nothing, then aren't able to grab a quality linemen/rusher (or even worse, draft one that doesn't pan out)?

    A bird in hand.......

What does this have to do with our need for a Passrusher? Should we not try to get a good player on another position, because we don?t have a passrush? I really don?t get that point, enlighten me.

  13. Yes, a pass rusher is a major need. But it isn't the ONLY need. 2 other needs are ridding ourslves of D rob's contract and a CB opposite Revis. YES, a pass rusher is more important than a CB...but that doesnt mean we shouldnt try to upgrade the CB position. The game of football does not revolve completely around a pass rusher...the given trade takes care of the above listed needs...you're saying we shouldnt do it b/c we need a pass rusher?? I don't get it...seems like more of a personal preference than so the team's best interest.

Nothing will probably give Seau and Bruschi a hard-on than a skinny-legged RB who couldn't break tackles running between the tackles.

First thing DMC should be getting with his first paycheck is a vasectomy.

  16. The thing about Seau/Bruschi is they need a major dosage of viagra to even get it up.Age does that to a man. I doubt they could even CATCH DMAC in the open field, never mind hit him.

Is anyone else wondering why the Eagles in Gods name would even think about DROB, not only are his injury concerns, huge contract and lack of production there.

But my real question is, Where would the eagles put him, pay a guy 8 mil to be a "situational pass rusher"???

    NO CHANCE

I don't know how relevant this is being that its a few days old.

Eagles interested in obtaining Jets DL Robertson?

New York Jets defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson, a No. 4 overall pick in 2003, visited the Philadelphia Eagles and took a physical, according to two league sources the Delaware County Times reported.

The Eagles can't comment on Robertson, who is still property of the Jets but became trade bait when New York switched to a 3-4 defensive alignment this off-season and signed Kris Jenkins to play nose tackle. Robertson was also in conversations with at least four other teams, said one source, who couldn't confirm if the Eagles had made an offer to the Jets.

The Eagles have 11 picks in the draft, which starts next Saturday, and could pick up more if they deal cornerback Lito Sheppard. The Denver Broncos are also reportedly interested in Robertson.

I think everyone can agree that that'd be a sick trade.

  20. 1. The Eagles have acouple youngsters on the DL in Peterson and Brunkley. Both have had mixed reviews. Andy Reid/Jim Johnson LOVE to rotate DT's in and out. D rob would be an immediate starter and would allow Brunkley to continue developing in a lessened role. It's kind of a "kill 2 birds w/ one stone" type deal as D rob allows the youngsters time to develop in a rotation..but the youngsters allow d rob to harness his knee and take less snaps..which protects the risk of a major injury setback.

    2. D rob would be EXTREMELY productive in Jim Johnson's scheme. That scheme preaches pushing the pocket and beating guys one on one. Those are 2 things D rob does very well. It'd be a great fit.

    3. D rob would likely agree to a contract extension which will weaken the cap hit...and string it out over 3-4 years.
