Would have been nice if he woulda showed up for the voluntary workouts. I don't really think it's that big a deal as long as he's ready to play...just don't look to him for leadership. Hate to see this turn into a "secured bag" situation.
He plays like he used to and all will be forgiven rather quickly... If he doesn't, he's gonna have a long season with the media lol Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
This formula made him one of, if not the best running back in the league so I'm fine with him following it. Thinking about it logically... he's been out of the game a year working with a personal trainer. The involuntary workouts are bullshit, basically just a glorified game of catch in street clothes but players are expected to make football-like moves and train the way the team wants them to train. Bell probably isn't at that stage yet and it's not worth abandoning the regiment for a few days of meaningless activity. I'd assuming he's progressing his way to game speed, and that's not to say he's got to work his way there but I don't think he should rush himself there because the tabloids and some shlubs on a website say he should.
It would be odd to be upset over that. I don’t have any doubt that he will be ready for the mandatory stuff and that is all that matters.
schlub /ʃlʌb/ noun INFORMAL•NORTH AMERICAN noun: shlub a talentless, unattractive, or boorish person. "the poor dumb shlub just didn't get it" Harsh lol
Vets know what they need to do to be ready for the season. Vets skipping off-season workouts that aren't mandatory is par the course.
This reminds me of when Kevin McHale derided James Harden's leadership abilities a couple of years ago. When Harden was asked about it, he called McHale a "clown." I remember this so clearly because I was thinking: Kevin McHale may be a lot of things -- he might be hoarding child porn for all I know -- but a "clown"? No. Kevin McHale is in the 99th percentile of non-clowns.
As long as he shows up in top football shape when mandatory training camp begins I'm fine with it. Time will tell.
How many big name superstars have also missed voluntary workouts? Plz let's not pretend nor act as if Bell is the only one or if this is "rare". Wake me up when he's skipping practice or being a locker room cancer. He put his work in as a Steeler. Broke a storied Steelers all time franchise regular season record for most rushing yards during a single game. Also broke a Pittsburgh postseason record for most rushing yards during a playoff game. One of only two NFL players to ever have two playoff games of 200+ offensive yards from scrimmage during postseason play. And if we're questioning his durability and stamina during this offseason? Just know and understand he's a natural 3 down back and before his holdout Pittsburgh never needed nor utilized a backup; as Le'Veon Bell literally carried over 90+% of carries during all the games he's played for them. But we're talking voluntary workouts and none of the above? No mention of Pro bowl and All-Pro status and within his prime years? Missing voluntary meetings means he'll forget how to catch 80+ passes as an RB coming out of the backfield? Or how he's top 1-2 All-Time amongst all skilled position players in yards from scrimmage per game? Some offseason slouch this guy really is. Hah. But look, don't worry I won't defend him anymore during this thread due to chances are being blocked and banned from this thread for stating 100% facts. That's not allowed but bashing Maccagnan and our O-Line into off-season nausea is encouraging to others around here. Weird. But hey just remembered as I exit this Le'Veon thread... Don't forget to post his highlights and game tape (especially his postseason performanc(s) whil questioning his decision to skip "voluntary workouts"... QB: Sam Darnold. RB: Le'Veon Bell. That 1-2 punch @ QB/RB will be mentioned alongside of all time great Jet QB/RB duo's. Remember that. And here we are with another Le'Veon thread but this time talking about missing a voluntary workout... Nice.
The guy should be there; he's not making minimum wage. He just missed a season of practice - it's not like he's worn out. Part of the reason these workouts exist is to build camaraderie and to get people acquainted with the systems, packages and plays the team uses. Even if he was just standing there in street clothes, it would be beneficial. The guy may be very talented, but he's not a leader.
This is a whatever from me Guy is a clown but he’s our clown so whatever let’s see if he helps or hurts.. The money wasn’t too huge so fuck it
