Pittsburgh can't tag him again. He can show up week 10 and they have to accept him. They will play him and he'll be able to show he's still got it then he hits free agency (some say teams can tag for a 4th year if they press the issue, but it would be very expensive and Bell would probably sit out games again)

This was only the second franchise tag, so they can tag him next year, but it would be for something like $17-18 million, so it seems very unlikely.

Ridiculous...He already has millions banked from his previous contracts. Dude will not starve and yes I get the math but is 80 million guaranteed for him? Plus he could blow out his knee like any other player at ANY time with or without his mega contract. Its Entertainment and I get it but for a running back he passed on a very lucrative 2 year deal at 17 or 19 mil per year from the Steelers. He wont get that in free agency..so not so smart imo

Thoughts on possibly trading for him?

This is pure rumor from a family member, but thought it would be good discussion on the possibility.

A family member of mine works for espn and apparently Schefter has sources that are stating the Jets are speaking with Pittsburgh about a possible trade. Apparently Pittsburgh thinks the relationship is ruined for good with Bell.

Again, this is pure speculation and rumor but just wanted to see what people thought about the possibility?

No, no way. I wouldn't even sign him as a FA. I sure am not gonna give up a high draft pick or picks for a 27 year-old RB who has a lot of mileage on him, and then see him hold out on us next offseason. Eff Bell.

Before Monday, I'd have considered it.

However, we just saw incredible chemistry, and I would not risk disrupting it with a personality like Lev.

    Pass.

No, no, a thousand times no. He's a me first player who wants too much money and isn't a position of need (OLB and OL). Fuck Bell I hope they trade him to Buffalo.

No thanks. I would sign him in the offseason to a front loaded deal not more than 15-18/year with like 40 of it guaranteed.

I’d only take him if we give up nothing or basically nothing to trade for him.

I think we have a great duo with Powell and Crowell. They both looked very good on Monday night.

I guess it depends on what they'd give up for Bell

He’s an extremely talented RB, probably top 2-3 in the league but he’s got a ton of miles on his legs, he wants an absurd amount of money for the position (regardless of how great he is) and he’s an asshole.

If, as fans, we weren’t willing to spend draft capital on possibly the best defensive player in the league and someone who would elevate our entire defense (and an upstanding teammate and citizen) then we sure as shit shouldn’t be willing to spend it on a RB.

    Who’s an asshole.

Having said that, if the trade does happen, I can’t deny he’d make us a much more dangerous offense.

I’m perfectly content with Crowell and Powell.

You know who would’ve been nice to have traded for?

    Fine, I’ll drop it.

    *whispers*

Imagine what the defense might look like with Khalil Mack instead of Luvu

Side note that I didn’t realize until I wrote these names together for the first time...

Has anyone noticed that Crowell and Powell share the same final 5 letters of their last names? There’s a nickname for this backfield to be had somewhere. Someone find it.

Bell is a 3rd round pick trade at most. His expense is the contract, and with the cap space we have, and the fact that we won’t have to pay Darnold for at least three years, I’d absolutely trade and sign Bell with the guaranteed money coming due in these three years.

Let him help this team become legit over the next three years then replace him if he’s declining or wants too much money afterwards.

There's no way I am making this trade. There is no way I am signing this guy to the roster. Let the Colts drop 60M guaranteed on him.

Do you think Bell would be as transformative as Curtis Martin was back in the day?
