Just make sure all the FAs are no more than 26-28 yrs old

We don't want to get stuck with the aging Vet thing again

I don't understand your responses. Where did I say ANYTHING about leaving the QB without a decent LT? In fact, I said the opposite. I said that we definitely would have to sign an older FA there to insure that our QB's blind side is protected because in all probability, we wouldn't find one in the draft.

The secondary, I think we definitely could fill with players 26 and under. Most players are 21-22 coming out of college. We already have Burris, Williams and another DB or two that fit in that category. Older players are generally slower. We need speed and skill in the secondary. I fully expect the Jets to draft a CB in the 2nd round. I think they will also sign one. That one may be older than 26, but I hope they can find one that young or younger.

I didn't answer your question verbatim, but did in a general sense. I believe the truth is that no matter what age they are, we're not going to be able to fill or adequately address all of our holes this off season. I do believe that we can fill most of our holes with younger players between FA and the draft. I'm sure there will be a few older vets. I just hope they're at a minimum, and the Jets sign the right ones, and they will provide the kind of leadership/mentorship the young players around them need and will still be effective on the field for 2-3 years.

Since the team isn't going anywhere next season, why not entrust it to younger players? Why pay more for an older, more proven player? See what the younger, hungrier players can do. Hopefully, they then find players that can help them long term going forward. We know that older players aren't going to be able to help us long term. Unless Woody has told Mac and Bowles that their jobs are safe and to go ahead with a full rebuild, that isn't likely to happen anyway, as both Bowles and Mac will be looking to win as much as they can to save their jobs.

Bad decisions can happen on draft day regardless of what happened in FA. One should never reach in the draft out of need.

It would also be nice to save some of the cap space they gain from cutting players this off season to use in 2018.

28 is a recipe for getting stuck with the aging vet problem again.

26 year old free agents if we buy at all.
