Rogers is a huge Burks fan. He also loves Garrett Wilson and says if the Jets are going to trade for Ridley, they should just take Wilson at 10.

Treylon Burks at 4 is a must. The more film I watch the more I love this kid. I really like Wilson too but Burks has surpassed him in my opinion.

one tidbit about Burks that I found interesting is that he was offered scholarships to Michigan and Notre Dame but went with his hometown team in Arkansas. That always gets me intrigued when 4-5 star recruits stay home and tear it up.

He is just a perfect fit in the system too. JD don’t overthink it and take him at 4! Don’t let the Giants get a chance to take him because they will!!!

    Burks at 4!!!!

If he's as good - or nearly - as Chase, then I'm all for taking him at #4. Of course that's hard for any of us to say. Hopefully JD can get enough data on him to make sure one way or the other.

I don’t know about being close to Chase but I think he’s at least going to be as good as Andre Johnson/Deebo hybrid and that’s good enough for me at 4

4 feels way too high for Burks. He's not even the consensus best WR in this class which is considered a relatively weak WR class as far as top end talent goes. Chase was the consensus best WR prospect since Watkins in 2014.

I think to take a WR at 4 he has to at the very least be the clear best receiver in his class. I've probably seen Wilson ranked #1 in this class more than the others, though there's no consensus at all on who the best guy is.

I tend to agree, but I like him as a fit on the Jets and don't know if he lasts to 10 or later if they trade back. That said, maybe there's a WR as good for them like London or someone else - I haven't done a lot of research on them.

Interesting stat - though nearly impossible for my age 70 eyes to read - but what do you, or anyone, attribute something like that to? I'd be surprised if it was due to the receiver...more likely the QB and/or the play calling. I'd be curious to see possible explanations. Form the admittedly little tape I've seen of London he seems like the kind of receiver the Jets could use: big, tough, fast enough, and a never quit attitude.

Drake worries me a bit at #10. For one, he hasn't played all that much in College. 8, 6, 8 games in 3 years. Coming off major injury. Drop rate this year was high as well, at 8.3%, which is highest among all top prospects. He definitely has a lot of good qualities, such as high contested catch rate, great overall production, good size, a year younger than Burks and Wilson - but negatives are not small either and cannot be ignored.

He also has a fragile body type - not unlike Jamison Williams: long and lean frame. Between two of them, I probably take Jamison even now. Yes, Drake sustained his serious injury two months earlier than Williams, but ultimately, if Jamison was ahead of Drake before their respective injuries, he should be ahead now as well. It's true, Jamison will probably miss first few games, while Drake won't, but this is a 5 year contract. Both now have recurring injury concern, which to me far outweighs the point whether someone will get on the field a few games before the other on a 5 year deal.

Burks and Wilson have no recurring injury concerns given the fact they haven't had these types of serious injuries and the eye test of their body type, which is stockier. They should go ahead of Drake and Jamison. My preference is Burks, who has unique combination of size and speed, which is a better compliment to Elijah Moore than Wilson.

I couldn't possibly agree more. According to a stat I posted, he has very few catches on the right side of the field. That could be a concern as well. I could be mistaken, but I believe that even with his good route running, he will have a hard time getting open consistently in the NFL. I didn't realize that he had played that few games in his college career. I figure that Covid limited the number of games in 2020, but was he injured in 2019? If not, why did he play so few games that season?

The last thing we need is yet another WR who has problems with drops. Burks either has the best hands in this draft class, or is in the top of the top tier WRs in the draft. He also has huge, soft hands (10 1/4) which pretty much ensures that he will contine to have great hands in the NFL even in cold weather.

I wasn't aware of his injury history, thanks. Yes, that's a big red flag for me. We've already struggled with our receivers not being on the field enough,

No real injury history until this year. 2019 he was a freshman, 2020 shortened season due to covid, 2021 broken ankle. The ankle is concerning, but he should be able to test at the combine, and if not, his proday.

Thanks for the info. I still don't think he is anywhere near the best WR prospect in this class. Even though I think the Jets need a taller WR, I prefer Wilson over London, but for me Burks has the highest ceiling/most potential, and is the best scheme fit. Wilson is a distant 2nd to me.

Same for Jamison - no injury history before. The point is that Drake hasn't played much in College, and when he did play and got reps, he got a serious injury. Even if he runs at a pro day, I for one am worried about it, given his body type. Could be a fluke ... or not.

I remember Lafleur/Saleh saying they prioritize route running when looking at the WR position. Of the top 5 or so guys, Burks is at the bottom in this category. I think fans are higher on him than the Jets are because of his physical traits. I don't think we pick him unless we trade back into the late 1st, or early 2nd. Even then, they may prefer another WR prospect. I think we'll look for more complete players early, and take shots at traits later. Similar to how they attacked the 2021 draft, AV, EM, MC all complete players, then they took high traits guys later, i.e the DBs.

London had nearly 600yds and 5 TDs as a freshman, in 2020 he had 500yds and 3 TDs in a shortened season 6 games, and this past year he was on base to break multiple records before the injury. You may disagree, and that fine but I'm not concerned about his playing experience. He's a two sport athlete, basketball and football. Once he focuses exclusively on football, he'll get even better. Plus, in my opinion, as of right now he is a more complete product than Burks.

Regarding Williams, yes, only 1 year of production. Needed to transfer out of Ohio State to get playing time. This means he couldn't beat out Olave and Wilson. Not the end all be all, as some players develop later, and receiver room was already established.

I wouldn't say that Burks was at the bottom of the top 5 guys, but even if he is, he's at the top in terms of hands and actually catching the ball, he's probably #2 behind Williams for speed but #1 for size and speed, he's the most versatile, and by fat the most athletic/explosive/talented and has the highest ceiling. If Saleh and MLF are going to prioritize route running over hands and actually catching the ball, especially when that was such a huge problem last season, then they are stupid imo and deserve to fail. One doesn't draft players for their rookie season. Yes, Wilson and London may be more pro ready than Burks in terms of route running, but neither of them have the potential Burks has, and if the Jets want to be great they value talent and traits over being NFL-ready.

With his size, speed, hands, catch radius, versatility, blocking, and ability to shield DBs from the ball with his body, Burks could be a perennial All Pro and be huge in our scheme.

Again, more complete isn't necessarily a great thing. It means he's more NFL ready, but it also means that his ceiling is probably lower. Burks is just beginning to scratch the surface of his talent. Burks can do more than London. London can be a WR. Burks can line up wide, in the slot, in the backfield, can take direct snaps, can throw the ball, has a thicker frame which will be more conducive to absorbing hits and staying healthy in the NFL. You seem to ignore the most important aspect of a WR and that's actually catching the ball. Burks is at the top of the class and London is bound to be at least in the middle if not towards the bottom. We don't need any more WRs who can't catch the ball. It does zero good for them to run a great route, get open and then drop the ball. I'd rather have a WR with sure hands.
