Let's hope that doesn't happen because DW hasn't been around in a while so you'll have a hard time adding another tombstone to your sig.
It seems like every year we are in this same exact position. In some years we have made the playoffs standing up and in others we get help. The last two years in a row we have controlled our own destiny and last year we failed. This year I have never seen a 4 week period of AFC teams loosing in exactly the right order to keep us alive. A win Next week will indeed go a long way toward erasing failures of the past , but a weak performance in the playoffs will still have the same effect on this site and the typical rants that ensue after a clunker of a game. Is it the Same old Jets or the Same old fan's? Here's what I know for sure: We have the Number 1 defense and its has shown the last couple of games. We have the Best run game in town and it has shown the last dozen games. We have a Rookie QB who is playing in a sense his senior year in college right before our eye's and it shows. we have a long way to go and many more years of frustration ahead of us. The end of that road is a Championship That I know for sure! :jets:
This season had so many ups and downs its crazy... I can actually see us catching a break this time and getting into the playoffs... even tho you are right that it does have all the makings of a SOJ scenario.. I just hope we (the fans) actually catch a break this time...
Hey, the playoffs are a whole new season. We could make a run, it's possible. Let's get there first. SOJ, no more!
DBJ - I want to see a picture of the sun next to your tombstones if we somehow shake the SOJ stigma. The game will be in January of 2010. Time for a new decade resolution. Go Jets!
If you are saying that a win next week will bury the SOJs nonsense then how come 2002 didn't bury the SOJs nonsense? which was a nearly identical situation. My hope is a win next week kills the SOJF for good.
To be clear I don't think making the playoffs will bury SOJ permanently. Until the Jets consistently play like a real team (i.e. win home games, beat the teams they are supposed to beat, and don't beat themselves) SOJ will not die. However, in my mind at least, they can put to rest the 2009 SOJ by winning a must-win home game. I don't care what happens in the playoffs, because being a wildcard is a longshot to win the Super Bowl (unless you are playing red hot down the stretch). As is often the case, a lose hurts worse than a win feels good....and losing next week will be about as bad as it gets.
we must bury the SOJ this week, i am young an i even cant take another SOJ heartbreaker again. i cant imagine the pain you old timers are going through
Jesus H. Christ in a chicken basket. Here now the Jets have been the recipient of an incredible gift, and all you can do is trot out the same tired old schtick about how heartbroken you're going to be? Give it a fucking rest already. The Jets have been giving away games and seasons for generations. We deserve this. YOU need to bury the SOJs.
I think if Jet fans as a whole would concentrate more on getting laid on a regular basis the failings of a football team comprised predominately of men from somewhere else wouldn't sting quite so bad.
Off topic but it's interesting that if the Jets get into the playoffs, they will have done so by going only 4-4 at the Meadowlands after starting 2-0 there in September.
