Yes like the jets did in 2005 when they went 4-12 while in '04 and '06 w/ a healthy Chad we went 10-6 each year. Exactly. who drafts anyone thinking they suck? but painter sucked. Collins thought he was done w/ football. maybe if he keeps his team in a SB he would be in position to win on a crazy play? but throwing an INT for a TD in the lone close loss then not showing up for the other one won't help. a poor pass D w/ 2 of the best pass rushers in the league. mark also didn't have the weapons in the pass game Peyton had so any edge gained against the D is evened out. The bottom line is in almost identical situations marl succeeded, Peyton failed.
Junc not for nothing but Blair White dropped the pass on third down that would have been a first down for the Colts. The bigger question for Peyton in that game was why he audibled to a run on like a 3rd and 9 when the Colts were on the 12 yard line
the pass was not good, it was in the ground. very difficult for the receiver to come up w/. For some reason he called a rollout and that's not Peyton's strength to throw on the run. I don't remember 3rd and 9 from the 12, I do remember getting gashed in the run game on what looked like obvious passing downs but he went to that play one time too often. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011010800/2010/POST18/jets@colts#menu=highlights&tab=recap
Screw it, I was gonna reply but I don't think I can get thru to the OP. I think nyjunc is Earl Landgrebe reborn: "Don't confuse me with the facts, I've got a closed mind!"
NE went from 16 wins w/ Brady starting in 2007, to 10 wins w/ Cassell starting in 2008 and cassell was in that system learning from the best for years. Not to mention NE had a creampuff sched, check out how they did against playoff bound teams in 2007 vs. 2008. did NE make the playoffs? undefeated talent around the QB and couldn't even make the playoffs w/ a creampuff sched. who said a QB was great b/c they won SBs? Please follow along in the discussion, I have never said that.
Oh please... I see you spew half baked BS all the time and I'm sick of it. I just don't wanna waste my time on your blather.
Btw, I have read the discussion and you've IMPLIED post season success is equatable to greatness. You can ONLY be successful in the postseason by winning the SB. Ergo you are saying exactly that. But I believe you that you THINK you didn't say that. The sad part is that you don't comprehend what you're writing and then condescend to others.
No. You missed my entire point, completely. The Jets didn't sign Vinny to tank the season. They signed Vinny hoping he could be an upgrade to what they currently had in Bollinger. They signed Vinny in a last ditch effort to save the season. Now, it didn't work and the Jets season was a disaster. But he was signed to be an upgrade. You'd have a stronger argument if Painter started the whole year for the team, because he was so bad. But the Colts started 3 different QB's that year. They were trying to find the best option for them to be competitive. By the time Collins started the season was lost, but they were still trying to find a QB they could it least compete with. Just like the Jets were trying to with Vinny in 2005 Mark's weapons in 2010 were fine. It doesn't even out. They had great pass rushers, we had a very strong O-Line. They had good receivers, we had an awesome secondary. We had good receivers, they had a poor secondary. There's one thing in that equation that doesn't even out. I'm not saying Peyton hasn't made some big mistakes but they get highlighted more because it's Peyton Manning. Eli threw a ball that should have been picked on that final drive in 07, it wasn't. Maybe if Porter drops that ball Peyton eventually throws a TD. Who knows. What's done is done but these are just things to consider. Peyton won the 06 SB, played well in a losing effort to the Saints, and then ran into an incredible defense that was having one of it's best days of the year that game. This SB was the perfect storm right from the very first play. Things can very quickly spiral out of control. It's easy to just say "he doesn't get it done in the playoffs". He's won 11 playoff games, he's won a SB. He can get it done in the playoffs, thats been proven. Only one team can win every year. Brady hasn't won a SB in over 10 years. It doesn't make him any less great.
When Vanderjagt misses a 45 yarder, Peyton failed. When Vinatieri made difficult kick after difficult kick of that distance for the Pats, you annointed Brady a legend for coming through in the clutch and giving his kicker a chance. You contradict yourself so much I wonder if you even know what you're arguing anymore. You think Peyton is a choker, we get that. Good for you. Also, LOLLL at the comparison of Tebow and Peyton in terms of playoff wins per year, you are daft man. Broncos had no business being ion the playoffs, they lost 7-3 in the final game to the Orton-led Chiefs (they actually were 8-5 and lost their final 3, often in humiliating fashion), Tebow couldn't even get them a single TD in that game. Broncos then backed in when the Raiders choked against the Chargers. That Broncos team was horrendous btw, they were basically a 4-12 team that needed about 4 one in a million finishes to eke their way to 8-8. The only reason Denver managed a playoff win was because Ben had a high ankle sprain and LeBeau schemed Tebow like he was playing a high school QB. The following week they got absolutely rocked and showed their true talent level.
all I see are excuses, if I am so easily wrong it should be easy to prove. let's see what you got. There is your first mistake, read what I write, don't perceive what I write. I have never seen you before, you acted like a jerk to me so don't whine when I give it back to you. They signed Vinny out of desperation just like Indy signed Collins out of desperation. Painter being so bad is why they got Collins, Collins started the beginning of the year even though he was just brought in. he sucked, then Painter came in and he sucked, they started winning games w/ Dan orlovsky late in the year. Mark's weapons were fine and he won big w/ them but they weren't anything special. He didn't have Indy weapons. Of course they get highlighted more b/c they are Peyton manning just like he gets all the credit when they win. How can he have played well against the saints when he led his high powered O to 7 pts the final 3 qtrs. of the game and threw a pick 6 trailing by 6 to cost his team any chance? he's won 11 playoff games and lost 12! w/ consistently top 3-5 talent in the league. it's one thing if he was leading some inferior teams and elevating them but that hasn't been the case. I love the missed kick being brought up(it was a 46 yarder by the way) but not how they got to that point. Yep his K missed(he was the kicking version of peyton, great reg season bad postseason) but Peyton was given multiple gifts to even have a chance. Trailing 21-10 w/ about 5 mins left Peyton threw an INT, unbelievably they went to replay and overturned it. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs05/news/story?id=2294309 game would have been over but they get ball back and score TD and get 2 pt conversion to pull w/in 21-18. D gets Peyton the ball back w/ 3 time outs, 2:31 to play(so also had 2 min warning) at Indy 18. 1st down: 2 yd pass, takes them to 2 min warning 2nd down: takes sack 3rd down: incomplete 4th down: takes sack at Indy 2 great job Peyton! Pitt takes over 1st and G at Indy 2 w/ 1:20 to play. Indy still has 3 TOs so they have to run plays, TD ends. 1st play: Bettis FUMBLES, Indy picks it up and returns it to Indy 42 w/ 3 TOs and 1:01 to play. Peyton has 2nd and 3rd and 2 from Pitt 26, takes 2 shots at EZ- both incomplete so rather than setting up K for chip shot by moving the chains he went for the TD setting up a longer FG and they missed. But yeah it was all on the K! Let's compare Mark's 2010 comeback to this: Mark got ball at NYJ 46 w/ :45 secs left and 2 TOs Peyton got ball at Ind 42 w/ 1:01 left and 3 TOs Mark set up 32 yd FG at the gun for the win peyton set up 46 yd FG for the loss as far as Vinatieri, Brady led those kics at the gun, did all he could to get as close as possible. did Peyton do that in this game? 2nd and 3rd and 2 taking 2 shots at EZ? they had no business being in the playoffs yet Tebow leads them to a playoff win. Peyton has best team in league and they win 2 playoff games in 2 years. Interesting. They got absolutely rocked on the road unlike w/ Peyton when they got beat WORSE at a neutral site.
I can't, this is the dumbest thread I've seen in a while and I fear going back and reading it will impact my intelligence. Can someone please give me the cliff notes as to what this is supposed to mean? Thankee. _
If you're hoping for a reasonable or logical explanation of that don't hold your breath. It exists only as an artifact from spinning an argument out of thin air from a predetermined conclusion.
since you are the smartest guy on the board you have plenty of room to lose intelligence. Just simply read and learn.
in other words you don't have anything to counter my arguments but want to instead deflect from that. Thanks for another meaningful contribution to the board.
No I just need to understand whether someone actually typed those words-that "stat" - as evidence or proof of something. I may have missed the context, but I have to know whether someone was actually trying to compare the average number of playoff wins per year between Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow. I have to know whether it was just a joke or a legitimate attempt to prove something. I have to know. _
READ, it's very simple and if you don't have anything to actually add then don't post. If you read you will not only know what is going on but you will learn. I promise.
