With Vinny as starter the team went 12-4, 9-7 and 10-6. Then Chad came in and led us to 8-4, followed by 4-5 in 2003 and 8-5 in 2004 and 1-1 in 2005 and 10-6 in 2006. Anybody who thinks Chad was a great QB doesn't really understand what he did for the Jets, which was basically to be very competent at game managing. There were a half dozen really good QB's in the NFL in the years he played for the Jets and he was not one of them.
Theres some logic in letting him start...I don't like throwing a young QB behind such a suckass team...but Chad just doesn't DO anything. He throws a bunch of short dumpoffs and we MIGHT get a field goal out of it.
It's a bad idea for everybody if it results in him being back next year. I've watched a lot of Jets teams with a lot of different QBs and Chad has been the scaredest QB against a good team of any of them that actually got a chance to start for a few seasons. This started in 2002 against the Raiders in the playoffs and it has come back in most of the games against a good team since then. The fact that Marty Schottenheimer lost a playoff game to him in 2004 does not make him a good QB. And there are no other meaningful post-2002 highlights in Chad's career with the Jets. And no I don't count the Pats beating themselves in lousy weather last year through lack of preparation and taking the Jets lightly as a Chad-inspired victory.
I've had to read a lot of shit against Chad as a QB for the Jets and some of the arguments I can at least say are worthy of debate and do have some points. But saying Chad is QB running scared is one of the most retarded things. Stick with the weak arm argument. :breakdance:
To be fair Brad you have to say he did the job. It is his only victory against a playoff team in 3 years. I agree with pretty much everything else as the blind love mediocrity is a little bit much.
