This is bad, trust me...If you don't believe it is about 80/20 on Bills board who hate it Most are absolutely disgusted and furious over this trade http://boards.buffalobills.com/showthread.php?508344-Kiko-traded-for-shady!!! Kiko was on a rookie contract, you take on McCoy and $10 million. Couldnt you have thrown $10 million at a Demarco Murray and have Rex wine and dine you to a contract?
Not to mention, just because Bills have a good defense does not mean they are not screwing over one position for another. They are losing Kiko and Spikes, and probably Hughes, Searcy...What is Rex supposed to gear up and play LB for them?
Did buffalo just hurt their chance to sign Revis? 10 million cap....? Hmmmm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I believe in my gut I am, a 3-down linebacker in the NFL is invaluable. Sure, McCoy is skilled as hell, top 5 RB...But they have a terrible OL and that linebacker group just got weaker...It makes little sense to me, just draft Melvin Gordon or trade a pick for a running back. It is the easiest position to acquire. yikes
Good point, but different situations. McCoy is coming in being expected to be a centerpiece back while Spiller would be coming in to be a change-of-pace player. To say McCoy isn't still a good player or couldn't be impactful is probably wrong, but it's fair to wonder how good he'll be and for how long going forward as he does have a lot of mileage and years for a soon-to-be 27-year old back. There was a big dropoff in McCoy from 2013 to 2014 and he lost a lot of time to Sproles. If Buffalo just signed McCoy to a 3 year deal, different story. But they gave up one of the game's best and very young and complete linebackers, albeit coming off of a big injury, for a RB with a lot of mileage who also may very well hold out. This is also one of the deepest drafts for RBs in memory. It's really a win-now move for Buffalo because McCoy could fall off now or soon. Of course, it's also possible he still plays at a high level for longer, but it's a risk for them. They need more competent QB play. I'll be very interested to see how this plays out in the next couple years, but my prediction now is it'll work out better for Philly in the long run
This whole trade is a HUGE loss for Buffalo. Buffalo is not a running back away from playoff contention. They are in the same predicament we are in, no QB. Trading for a guy who will be 27 years old coming off an injury at a position of low value in the current league, is ridiculous. The cap number is HUGE and giving away a linebacker who will likely go on to have a tremendous career is ridiculous. Especially one who is only going into his third year. I don't care how "stacked" you are at the position, you don't trade away a guy as talented as Alonso on a rookie contract for a big dollar, older back coming off of an injury. Stupid move by Buffalo. I've tried seeing it the other way, but I can't understand how it is a good move at all for them. And as stated above, Buffalo fans are furious about this. It's like us trading Sheldon Richardson for Adrian Peterson. I would be fuckin furious
Not minimizing his impact, but if we get Spiller, we wouldn't be trading Richardson for him. McCoy is good, but why trade for a guy making 10 million? Go after AP or Murray if you want an impact back. Why get rid of a potentially great player to fill a position with a lot of options?
Rex doesn't value the LB position the way most 3-4 coaches do. He always has his eyes set on CB and the DL. He probably figured that he could find an easy replacement for Alonso given that he doesn't need or want a star LB in his defense.
Ya, I heard that as well....I'm surprised ...especially since Rex is there now.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Living in Bills country up here ...there is a lot of upset Bills fans to say the least...Kiko was a popular player... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chip is cleaning house. If you are all about yourself instead of the team, you will be gone. Love it.
That's because polk, sproles and maclin vultured them. Trust me if Kelly would have given him the opportunity it would have been higher. I personally think this is the beginning of the end of chip kelly. I thi k hes gonna blow this team apart and get marginal to low talent at best in return. Theres a good chance they may lose maclin too.
I think it was a good move for the Bills for 2015. I think it gets worse each season out from there and by 2017 it will be a total steal for the Eagles. That's perfectly fine with Rex is my guess. He wants to win next year.
