When I saw 29 vs. 31, I laughed. I just went with a deduction because I didn't feel like looking it up. How many 3 and outs did the Ravens put up this last year vs. us? I guess that would give a clue as to the field position Leonard had to work with durinig a punt reception.
why not mix revis in with the punt returns, he was sick in college in the return game. Even Lowery, he looked good last pre season in returns. i dont see the need of putting all our eggs in one basket. Let Leonhard, Washington, Revis, and Lowery all get reps on punt returns.
hell no. the last thing i want to see is Revis getting injured returning a punt when someone else could have just as easily had done it.
Lowery could return some punts also, considering it doesn't look he's gonna see the field much on defense
All I really care about w/ PRs is that the PR catches the ball. That is the most difficult job in the sport catching a punt w/ a bunch guys ready to knock your head off while your head is tilted to the sky to catch a punt. The rest is gravy but i want a PR who catches the football.
Parcells had Aaron Glenn do it, which I thought was a good move because he was our best playmaker and that was a way to get the ball in his hands. On this team it's probably not necessary to have Revis back there because we have other explosive players. Deion used to return punts also, again to get the ball in the hands of an explosive defensive player without having to wait for him to pick off a pass.
I'd still prefer to wait for Revis to pick one off. Because of what you pointed out in other explosive players.
Along that line of thinking I'm curious now why Deion was returning punts. I know on Atlanta he was far and away their most dangerous player, but SF and Dallas had a lot of weapons. Unless maybe he wasn't returning punts by then but I think he was. Then again, there was no way he was going to hurt himself the way he played defense.
I think Deion was just such a tremendous athlete that it was crazy to not put the ball in his hands. There aren't many all-around athletes I can think of that were as good or better than Deion. Bo Jackson, Michael Jordan? I mean Deion was just a freak of nature. He may have also just demanded the job, and the coaches had to listen because he was Deion.
Exactly. And that being said, taking this off Leon's plate is a good move. Not only, hopefully, for more touches, but to also make him a lot more kick ass whenever he does get the ball.
I'm in favor of this move, it was rare leon broke anything on punts anyway. I think he muffed just as many as he dropped, not worth it. If leonhard holds onto the ball, that's all that matters, and leon will be more rested for a bigger role in the offense.
I thought the same thing, lol. Anyway, I think this is a good move. It will open Leon up for move plays on offense.
I thought he did both before Leon Johnson. Then again, Johnson's rookie year was Parcells' first year here so maybe you're right. You probably are.
I totally forgot about Woodhead! Any chance he could be groomed to take over for TJ when he leaves instead of drafting a RB?
