I see him contributing most as a 3rd down, scat back and special teamer (KR, PR). Hopefully Blaylock will be traded this year or next offseason and we draft a stud RB to carry the load and use Washington as a change of pace.

IMO it looks like he will be our version of Kevin Faulk.....if he's lucky he might get the opportunity to be something more though.

But, he has that difference maker speed that Faulk or even Westbrook don't have... I had always looked at him as a faster version of Emmitt Smith. All he needs now is a great O-Line, then we're in business. He is only an inch and a quarter shorter than Emmitt (What's the difference?)!!! Also, Emmitt played at 209 coming out of college. Leon is 202 and just as strong.

once again I love this guy, not only are his posts clear, concicse, and sensical; but it just feels good to not be the only backer of Washington. Everything he says is true, I just gave up the good fight after draft since few people had seen him play.

Although, I myself dont like his size as an NFL starting back. I know if anyone can do it, its him. He plays bigger than he really is, has a good frame and a set of horse legs. Hits the hole full speed, and tends to fall forward for extra yards. Atop of the fact hes an obvious burner.

Jets have high hopes he'll be a utility guy (ie Kevin Faulk). That's what he'll be at worst. I really think he has the potential to step up. Albeit the Jets will prolly draft a RB first round next yr, Washington will be a bright spot on this team for years to come.

Washington showed speed and hands. Anyone remeber Bruce Harper. If he just turns out to be that what a great pick. I also think Mangini is going to use screens much like NE does to try and take away some of our weekness on the OL. Washington is going to be a very effective player in the screen game, something we failed to execute last year when we had teams loaded and over pursuing like crazy with no plan to counter it.

WB.......Good points! Leon reminds me of Harper. Leon will probably never be used fulltime.....but as a 3rd down runner/receiver out of the backfield and punt returner.......he will be lethal. It's time for Mangini to bring out some of Bruce Harper's tapes from the late 70's and early 80's.

    bumpity bump

The guy looked phenomenal today. Catching the ball, making the first guy miss, speed. He even looked okay running the ball. Maybe this guy can be our domanick davis.

    Go Jets !

Absolutely awesome today. I was so psyched on draft day when we picked him, and he is not disappointing. A definite playmaker.

This guy was great today! Between him and Dwight we could really mix up some different stuff on O.

he definatly looked great today, but the staff finally put him in situations in which he could excel in...he is definatly a good 3rd down back and change of pace back, but not a marshall faulk, every-down back...i was definatly impressed with him

This guy is great, Im really loving this pick. While he may not be capable of handling the full load, as a situational back hes more than adequate. I say platoon him with Houson and kick Barlow and especially Blaylock to the curb

Thank Herm for Leon. Had he not run away like a panzy to KC, we would've never gotten the 4th round pick to take Leon.

I've also been saying he's Blaylock, but better in every aspect... between the tackles, as a reciever and in the open field, and certainly as a returner. He's faster and more elusive, and can break a tackle here and there, unlike Blaylock. The one area Blaylock MAY have an edge is in pass blocking, but blaylock is nothing to write home about in that area either.

The only reason Id keep Barlow is for depth. I dont like what Ive seen of him thus far as a starter, and outside of experience, he doesnt offer anything that Houston doesnt. I would like to platoon between Houston and Washington this year and go into next years draft maybe looking for an all purpose back with one of our first three picks

    hahaha yeh thanks herm...

is it just me, or everytime i hear, "he's too small" in football, the guy always turns out to be good? that move he put on the screen pass that got taken back by holding showed this kid can be a game breaker for us.

    p.s. wasn't barry sanders only 5-7??

I have been telling my friends to watch for the screen since it was a logical transfer from New England to here. Actually a playbook page we needed to improve...and I agree...Leon opens it up and I am looking forward to our speedy little RB helping us break the 100 yard a game barrier.
